Prepare for three challenging days ahead as you ascend to the rock and glaciated camp near Mera La saddle at approx. 5400 m/17712 ft. Wear plastic mountaineering boots for warmth, protection, and stability on varied terrain. Another camp awaits halfway up the long North Slope of the mountain at about 5700 m (18696 ft) near a rock knob.
Your summit bid begins early in the morning from this high camp, lasting 4 to 6 hours. Rope up for safety due to crevasse hazards. Enjoy stunning views of Baruntse, Chamlang, Nau Lekh, and Everest as the light breaks. Return to base camp after the summit, depending on weather and route conditions.
