The PADI Mermaid Instructor program is thoughtfully crafted to empower individuals with the essential skills and knowledge required to become effective instructors in the enchanting realm of mermaiding. This program hones teaching techniques and nurtures personal skill development while upholding PADI Standards. Blending these elements ensures that mermaid instructors are well-prepared and inspired to deliver outstanding instruction and guidance, fostering a magical experience for their students.

Mermaid Program Overview

The Mermaid program focuses on its structure, philosophy, requirements, and procedures to equip you for teaching courses that are low-stress, performance-based, safety-oriented, and centred around the learner. You will refine your mermaid skills to a role-model level and receive practical suggestions for organising and marketing your courses.

What to Bring

• Mermaid Monofin and Skin
• Sun-protective clothing and a change of clothing
• Reef Safe Sunscreen
• Low-volume mask and J-style freediving snorkel
• Nose clip or sinus-saver nose plugs (optional)
• Bifins appropriate for freediving
• A secure swimsuit
• Towels
• Water and snacks
• Course materials as needed to conduct presentations: Laptop, iPad, mobile device
• Notebook

If you bring your own mermaid tail it must be from one of the following brands:

Mermaid Linden, Suntails, Mertailor Whimsy, Fin Fun, or Cape Cali.

Mermaid Linden is highly recommended for beginners.

You may rent one from the store if you do not own a tail.

REQUIREMENTS

Completed Mermaid & Advanced Mermaid Courses & assisted with 2 Mermaid Courses.
The ability to swim at least 400m without swim aids or flotation devices, and 800m with mask, snorkel, and fins.
The ability to back float, tread, or bob on the water's surface for at least 10 minutes without aids.
The ability to submerge and swim underwater, without a mask, without distress.

Prerequisites
18 years old

Certified as a PADI Advanced Mermaid (or have a qualifying certification) or proof of mermaid diving experience with 15 mermaid diving sessions, including three or more open water mermaid sessions

Completed EFR Primary and Secondary Care training (or have a qualifying certification) within the last 24 months. A current EFR Instructor rating (or qualifying certification) meets this requirement.

A current medical statement signed by a physician within the previous 12 months
