About this trip

The Mexico Culture trip is a 3-week immersion into the heart of Oaxaca — a city bursting with color, flavor, and tradition. From ancient Zapotec roots to vibrant markets and mezcal rituals, Oaxaca will awaken your senses.

This trip blends remote work, cultural exploration, and nature getaways — a true celebration of Mexico’s creative soul.

Oaxaca in October is MAGICAL!!! It’s the month of Day of the Dead, and although the trip ends on October 23, you’ll still be able to feel the vibe. If you’d like to extend your stay (on your own), we can help connect you with one of our accommodation partners.

Known for its vibrant markets, traditional crafts, and world-famous cuisine, Oaxaca blends deep-rooted tradition with creative energy.

Hierve El Agua and Mezcal Tour

🔹 Saturday, October 9:

We’ll leave the city before sunrise to experience Hierve el Agua in its quietest moment of the day - watching the sun rise over the mountains, walking down to the base of the petrified waterfalls, and enjoying the pools before the crowds arrive.

Afterward, we’ll continue exploring some of Oaxaca’s cultural highlights: a traditional mezcal palenque, and the famous Tule Tree.

🔹 Sunday, October 10: We’ll share our recommendations, and coordinate optional plans depending on what the group feels like doing.

Week 2

Teotitlan del Valle Experience

🔹 Saturday, October 16: We’ll travel to Teotitlán del Valle, a Zapotec village known for its weaving heritage, ancestral cooking, and artisan families who have preserved these traditions for generations.

Our host Oralia will welcome us into her home to prepare a traditional pre-Hispanic meal cooked over fire, while we learn about the ingredients and techniques passed down through generations.

Throughout the day we’ll also explore the village with a local guide, visit artisan workshops, and learn about the crafts that make this community so unique.

This is not a touristic restaurant experience — it’s a cultural exchange inside a family home and local workshops.

🔹 Sunday, October 17: We’ll spend the day exploring Oaxaca through its food, trying some of the city’s most iconic dishes and checking out a few spots inspired by Netflix’s Street Food. Think of it as a casual food adventure rather than a formal tour — we’ll wander, taste, and see where the day takes us.
