Travel to the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel

Dinner at the hotel and then rest

You will meet your Ghanaian tour guide who will assist and transfer you to the hotel. After you have settled in your room you will join the group again and receive a brief orientation during the welcome dinner.

Get antiquated with the group and relax for a fresh start in the morning.

Thursday

Type of Day: Low Impact

Attire: Comfortable wear

Breakfast at the Hotel

Departure: 10:00 am 

Tour of Accra, Ghana

Points of Interests include: Independent Square, Kwame Nkrumah, Jamestown,

Botanical Gardens, and more. (Subject to Change).

Return to the hotel for rest and dinner.

Friday

Type of Day: Medium Impact (bus travel, walking)

Attire: Celebratory White

Breakfast at the Coconut Grove Beach Resort or Golden Hill

Departure for the Central Region 

Travel for 2-3 hours to Cape Coast to explore the Slave Dungeon.

Check in to the Coconut Grove Beach Hotel

Drive along the coast through several fishing villages and coconut lined beaches. Visit the Cape Coast Castle which was originally started by the Swedes in 1652.

The Cape Coast Castle served as the headquarters and seat of the British colonial government until 1877

We will also visit Elmina Castle erected by the Portuguese in 1482, one of the most important stops on the route of the Atlantic slave trade.   

Saturday

Type of Day: High Impact (walking, climbing)

Attire: Comfortable and durable wear; walking shoes

Departure: 9:00 am

Kakum Canopy Walk

Village of Sumaan (bring school supplies and other donated items for the service project)

Go on a morning walk of the “Kuntan Trail” with its countless medicinal trees. Climb the mountain to experience the “Canopy Walkway” suspended 100 feet from the forest ground for a panoramic view of the flora and fauna of the remaining vestiges of the rain forest. 

Visit the village of Saaman to tour the traditional farming village and gain insights on their educational system.

Sunday

Type of Day: Low Impact

Attire: Casual/Comfortable Wear

Departure: 8:00 am

Journey to Takoradi (the Water Village)

Lunch in Takoradi

Depart at 3:00 pm to Coconut Grove Resort Hotel

Depart back to hotel for dinner

Travel to Tokradi port. Take notice of this fast emerging industrial city.

Make it back in time for a beach dinner.

Be prepared to kick it all night!!!

Monday

Type of Day: Low Impact

Attire: Comfortable Wear

Departure: TBD

Visit to the Slave River (Assin Manso)

Dinner at Mabel's Table (American Soul Food Cuisine)

Travel to Assin Manso the “Slave River” which was the last rest stop for the captives on their “one-way” trek to the slave dungeons along the Coast.

Afternoon Options: Relax, meditate, or enjoy the amenities at the Coconut Grove Beach Resort (horseback riding, golf, mini golf, swimming at the pool, etc.) or an afternoon session with Bishop Davis.

Tuesday

Type of Day: Medium Impact

Attire: Casual/Comfortable Wear

Head Back to Accra to Movenpick Ambassador Hotel

Spend the day doing what you want to do in your own way and enjoy!!! 

Or continue to the Arts and Crafts Market for a wide variety of Ghanaian hand-crafted items. 

Farewell Dinner and Naming Ceremony at the La Palm Hotel

Wednesday

Type of Day: Travel Day

Attire: Comfortable wear

Packing and Late Check-out of hotel

Spend the day shopping or sightseeing on your own before departing to Airport.

No activities are scheduled. 

Final check-out time to be determined.

Travel to airport at 5:30 pm for international departure
