      About this trip

Cranial 1 (C1), The Foundation Cranial Class

This four-day class is designed to introduce analytical and intuitive visionary understanding of craniosacral work, perhaps more appropriately described as Sacred Cranial, since it approaches the head with such reverence. It is the High Art of healing touch. This exquisitely sensitive, subtle and careful work can be highly effective when properly applied; the gentlest of approaches is often more powerful than the most robust. As e.e. cummings said, “nobody, not even the rain, has such small hands.”

The class emphasizes perceptual clarity, inner calm and right action, which form the context for our study of cranial anatomy and technique. Each half-day of the class is devoted to the study of a specific cranial bone, using natural disarticulated specimens, slides and hands-on work with a partner to deepen understanding. All practical work is under the constant supervision of the teacher and his or her assistants. The techniques presented for each bone are brought together in a basic technique protocol that health care practitioners may use as a basis with which to introduce cranial work to their own practices.

      Itinerary

      Day 1 - 4
      Craniosacral 1: Foundation Class

*class hours are from 9 am to 6 pm

(while we make our best attempts to end on time, sometimes participants are in process and ask that students not schedule anything immediately after class to allow for a natural closure of the day).

*students may arrive 20 minutes before the beginning of each class (in mornings the teacher meets with the assisting staff). We begin promptly at 9 am.

*We begin with connecting with our group field though sitting and guided meditation and our seven preparations for craniosacral work.  Our usual flow is slide show presentation, followed by demonstration on anatomical models like resin skulls, followed by teacher demonstration of techniques, followed by hands-on-exchange in pairs with another student.

I’d highly recommend this class to anyone interested. Matthew is a highly skilled teacher and practitioner, and created a safe and respectful space to learn in. I walked away with in depth knowledge of anatomy, a deeper understanding of craniosacral therapy techniques and a greater awareness of the wider aspects of this work. The surrounding area was also enjoyable to explore and spend time in.
