The Link Experiences Team
Early in the morning (8am), depart from the hotel to take the road towards Mindo, located 52 miles away from Quito. Explore one of the worldwide hot spots for birdwatching at the Mindo cloud forest, an ecological reserve.
Zip Lining
Half way up to the Cable Car & Waterfalls, you encounter Mindo Canopy, the longest running and original zip lining in Ecuador. The Canopy is an adventure sport of a series of cables that allow you to fly through the sky and over the lush forests from one point to another. The ten cables range from 20m to 400m in length.
All safety equipment is provided, such as a harness, helmet, gloves and pulleys. To start, professional guides give a talk in which you will learn the safety methods used during the tour, then join you on an adventure through the series of cables. The first cable begins on a platform. You walk from the arrival site of one cable to the departure site of the next one.
Mindo's Cable Car & Waterfalls
The Tarabita was built to help travelers admire the forests of the Mindo Nambillo Ecological Reserve soaring 150 meters above ground. At this attraction, a brief cable car ride takes you above the breathtaking scenary, allowing you to shorten the walking time to entrance of the waterfalls. Each car has the capacity to carry up to six people, making it perfect for families and groups alike.
On the Tarabita, you travel between mountain tops, stopping at the falls entrances. The destination begins the walk towards the Nambillo waterfall (15 minutes), magnificent for swimming and photography. Next, take a 30 minute walking detour that leads to the Sanctuary of Waterfalls or the exclusive path to the Reina Waterfall which includes a 60 minute walk all in virgin forest and allows to reach the best of all waterfalls.
Have lunch at a local restaurant
After lunch depart to Mitad del Mundo (Middle of the World) monument where the French Geodesic Expedition –according to planet calculations – designated the center of the world. Get the best picture with one foot on each hemisphere; visit the Ethnographic Museum, and the attractions at Mitad del Mundo Complex.
