Start your day early with a convenient hotel or airport pick-up in Quito (2,800 m) at 3:45 a.m. We’ll journey about 2.5 hours west toward the lush Andean Cloud Forest (1,600 m) — one of the most biodiverse regions in the world and a true birdwatching paradise.

Upon arrival, enjoy a light snack as you prepare your gear for an unforgettable morning of bird photography and wildlife observation. A short, guided walk will lead us to a Cock-of-the-Rock lek, where you’ll witness the vibrant display of one of South America’s most iconic birds, the Andean Cock-of-the-Rock.

🍽 Local Flavors

After a rewarding morning of birding, we’ll stop at a nearby refuge for a traditional country breakfast featuring ripe plantains and fresh cheese empanadas. Lunch is also included and will be enjoyed later in the day.


 

🏞 Final Stop: Hummingbird Sanctuary

On the way back to Quito, we’ll visit a peaceful hummingbird sanctuary (1,400 m), where you can quietly observe dozens of dazzling species and colorful tanagers — perhaps some that eluded us earlier in the forest.
