Mindo is 61 miles away from the Quito city. This area is the transition zone between the highlands and the coast. The altitude ranges from 6,000 and 4,400 feet above sea level. Enjoy a sub-tropical weather and walking through the eco-route to observe the most biodiverse and endangered habitats. Mindo was awarded as a Biosphere Reserve by the UNESCO in 2018.
Mindo offers a variety of cultural and adventure activities such as;
Hummingbird´s paradise; photograph several species of hummingbirds in few minutes. This is a private reserve where the farmers are protecting the ecosystem. Feeders atract at least 15 hummingbird species. Frecuently, tucans, tanagers and other species of birds are spotted in the area. Do slow-motion videos, take a lot of pictures or just relax in a natural enviroment.
Cable car, forest walk and waterfalls; Enjoy a ride in the highlands of Mindo and walk on the cloud forest to visit different waterfalls. Dive into the cristaline waters. Learn more about the giant tree ferns or bromeliads.
Ziplining; enjoy hanging in a harness to cross from one hill to another one and feel the warm humid air of the forest that comes from the Pacific Ocean.
