I’ve been on several extended vacations and I would describe this Moroccan trip as my best ever vacation. Filled with non-stop rewarding new experiences, I’m captivated by them. Once we traveled from Casablanca (which was a unique and exotic experience for me) to Chefchaouen, the blue city in the valley, arriving on Sunday evening, I wasn’t prepared for activities happening in the square. You’d think you were in Times Square in NY. (literally a party in the square). Settling in our rooms, we then had a scrumptious meal. Now I’m anxious to get into the square for a first hand look at all the going on. Too much to compact here but I 💕 the city. Oh by the way, our journey to the city was simply breathtaking and cultural. On to Fez or Fes in Northern Morocco and the road trip there again presents some directly out of National Geographic. Living through history in Northern Africa, I loved it. Navigating the Medina of Fez is mind blowing, just don’t get separated from your group. (Needed more time to take in more sightseeing there). On to the Sahara desert, in awe. The most captivating mountains of sand dunes, the setting sun, the quiet camel rides and overall peace can only be relieved through flashback memories. (Maybe the highlife of my trip. Passing through the French mountain town with the monkeys begging for food, a stop in the restaurant, having a glass of hot Moroccan, fresh mint tea in temperatures that begged for a light wind breaker, truly an cosmopolitan experience. (maybe come again to the ski resort). Onward toward Marrakech. Unlike the previous cities, the red city was so fast paced. Our experiences and expectations were definitely met, from the Medina to the relaxing evening at the gorgeous resort own/operated by architect Mariann. The cooking classes were off the ordinary chain, everything was exquisite. (I even fell asleep there). Overall I give the trip a 5-Star rating. The last riad was not great, too many stairs to traverse and the food wasn’t great. I highly recommend this Moroccan experience to anyone.
