Freedom Trail, Boston Massacre, Fenuil Hall and Omni Parker Hotel

The Freedom Trail is a 2.5-mile-long path through Boston, Massachusetts, that passes by 16 locations significant to the history of the United States. Marked largely with brick, it winds from Boston Common in downtown Boston through the North End to the Bunker Hill Monument in Charlestown.

Boston Massacre was a confrontation in Boston on March 5, 1770, in which a group of nine British soldiers shot five people out of a crowd of three or four hundred who were abusing them verbally and throwing various missiles.

Omni Parker House The 3rd floor certainly has its share of paranormal activity as well. Room 303 guests report strange shadows throughout the room and the bathtub water would just turn on randomly by itself. Management eventually turned this room into a storage closet for unspecified reasons. Some speculate that it was because a guest committed suicide in this room; but no one knows for sure. Stephen King’s “1408” was inspired by the events occurring in Room 303 – maybe grab a copy for a haunting read while staying in the hotel!

Cambridge, Danvers and Salem

Cambridge, Massachusetts, has a tumultuous history filled with Revolutionary War beginnings, religious persecution and centuries of debate among Ivy League intelligentsia. It should come as no surprise that the city is also home to spirits that are entangled with the past and now inhabit the dormitories, local watering holes and even military structures of the present. Discover the apparitions that frighten freshmen in Harvard's Weld Hall, the Revolutionary War ghosts that haunt the estates of Tory Row and the flapper who is said to roam the seats of Somerville Theatre.

In the winter of 1691-1692, the beginnings of the Salem witch-hunt started when Rev. Samuel Parris’ daughter Betty and his niece Abigail Williams were afflicted by “an evil hand” in Salem Village, then part of Salem Town. In 1755, the Village became the town of Danvers.

The Salem witch trials were a series of hearings and prosecutions of people accused of witchcraft in colonial Massachusetts between February 1692 and May 1693. More than two hundred people were accused. Thirty were found guilty, nineteen of whom were executed by hanging.

Plymouth and Departure

Plymouth is a coastal town in Massachusetts, south of Boston. It is the site of the first Pilgrim settlement, founded in 1620. Plymouth Rock, a boulder in Pilgrim Memorial State Park, marks the place where settlers are thought to have landed on shore. The Mayflower II, a full-scale replica of the ship that carried the Pilgrims across the Atlantic, is usually anchored at the park.
