We will tour the beautiful Lake Llanquihue, viewing the imposing Osorno Volcano in front of us. We will visit Vicente Pérez Rosales National Park, where the Petrohué Falls are located, and then continue our journey along the lake, arriving at the start of the Carretera Austral. We will proceed with the first kilometers, but not before taking a ferry to reach the town of Hornopirén.

Recorreremos el hermoso Lago Llanquihue divisando el imponente Volcán Osorno frente a nosotros, visitaremos el Parque Nacional Vicente Pérez Rosales donde se ubican los Saltos del Petrohué para continuar nuestro viaje bordeando el lago donde llegaremos al inicio de la Carretera Austral, para avanzar los primeros kilómetros, no sin antes navegar en ferry hasta llegar a la localidad de Hornopirén.

We head to the Hornopirén pier where we'll board the ferry that will take us across the southern fjords for 5 hours to Caleta Gonzalo. This town marks the beginning of Pumalín National Park, one of the most pristine in the country and once owned by North American environmentalist Douglas Tompkins, who, after his death, donated it to the country by his wife. After trekking through the park, we continue along Route 7, enjoying views of glaciers and fjords, to the beautiful town of Puyuhuapi.

Nos dirigimos al embarcadero de Hornopirén donde tomaremos el ferry que nos llevará a través de los fiordos australes por 5 horas hasta Caleta Gonzalo, esta localidad marca el inicio del Parque Nacional Pumalín, uno de los más prístinos del país y del que fue dueño el ecologista norteamericano Douglas Tompkins quien luego de su muerte fuera donado al país por su esposa. Después de realizar un trekking por el parque, seguimos por la ruta 7 con vistas de ventisqueros y fiordos hasta la hermosa localidad de Puyuhuapi.

Our journey continues along the Puyuhuapi and Queulat fjords until we reach Queulat National Park, a must-see stop where we'll have the opportunity to enjoy the beauty of the Colgante Glacier, one of the region's main attractions. Our next objective will be to navigate the curves and turns of the famous Cuesta Queulat, amidst the Nalcas and ferns typical of evergreen Patagonia. After passing through several small towns, we will head towards Coyhaique, capital of the Aysén region.

Nuestro viaje continua bordeando los fiordos de Puyuhuapi y Queulat hasta llegar al Parque Nacional Queulat, parada obligada donde tendremos las posibilidad de disfrutar de la belleza del Glaciar Colgante, uno de los principales atractivos de la región. Nuestro próximo objetivo será cursar las curvas y contracurvas de la famosa Cuesta Queulat entremedio de Malcas y Helechos típicos de la Patagonia siempre verde. Después de cruzar algunas localidades pequeñas enfilaremos rumbo a Coyhaique, capital de la región de Aysén.

We say goodbye to Coyhaique and head south, but not before visiting the beautiful meadows of the Simpson Valley. Then, we will pass through Cerro Castillo National Park, where we will admire the imposing massifs and, if we are lucky, spot huemules. Winding down the famous Cuesta del Diablo, we will reach Villa Cerro Castillo, a locality that reminds us that we have few kilometers of pavement left. We will continue through mountains, skirting rivers and forests, until we see Lake General Carrera, indicating the proximity of our destination for the day, Puerto Río Tranquilo.

Nos despedimos de Coyhaique para tomar rumbo sur no sin antes visitar las lindas praderas del Valle Simpson, luego enfilaremos a través del Parque Nacional Cerro Castillo donde apreciaremos los imponentes macizos y, si tenemos suerte, podremos avistar Huemules. Serpenteando la famosa Cuesta del Diablo llegaremos hasta Villa Cerro Castillo localidad que nos recuerda que nos van quedando pocos kilómetros de pavimento. Avanzaremos entre montañas, bordeando ríos y bosques hasta divisar el Lago General Carrera que nos avisa la proximidad de nuestro destino del día, Puerto Río Tranquilo.

This will undoubtedly be a special day, as we will travel one of Patagonia's most beautiful scenic routes along the Exploradores Valley. The magnificent landscapes of Laguna San Rafael National Park are a mosaic of fjords, canals, islands, estuaries, and ice. Declared a Biosphere Reserve, it is the main gateway to the Northern Ice Field. The San Rafael Glacier attracts visitors from around the world; we will embark to appreciate the grandeur of its unspoiled horizons and ecological biodiversity. Charles Darwin, Fitz Roy, and Alberto de Agostini are just some of the historical figures who have made this hidden corner of the Aysén region known.

Este sin duda será un día especial ya que recorreremos una de las rutas escénicas más hermosas de la Patagonia a través de la ruta Valle Exploradores. Los magníficos paisajes del Parque Nacional Laguna San Rafael son un mosaico compuesto de fiordos, canales, islas, esteros y hielo. Declarado Reserva de la Biósfera, es la principal puerta de entrada al Campo de Hielo Norte. El glaciar San Rafael atrae la mirada de visitantes del mundo entero, nos embarcaremos para apreciar la grandeza de sus horizontes intocados y su biodiversidad ecológica. Charles Darwin, Fitz Roy y Alberto de Agostini son sólo algunos de los personajes históricos que han dado a conocer la espectacularidad de este rincón escondido de la región de Aysén.

The Marble chapels are one of the most important tourist attractions in Patagonia. Composed of limestone formations, they stand out for the beauty of their columns and the intense blue of the waters that protect them. The Cathedral, The Chapel and The Cave, sculpted on the shores of General Carrera Lake, make up one of the most beautiful landscapes of the Carretera Austral. Once the navigation is finished we continue south bordering General Carrera Lake. On our trip we will visit the town of Puerto Bertrand before arriving at Cochrane.

Las capillas de Mármol, son uno de los atractivos turísticos más importantes de la Patagonia. Compuesta por formaciones de piedra caliza, destacan por la belleza de sus columnas y el azul intenso de las aguas que las protegen. La Catedral, La Capilla y La Cueva, esculpidas en las orillas del Lago General Carrera, conforman uno de los paisajes más hermosos de la Carretera Austral. Una vez terminada la navegación continuamos hacia el sur bordeando el Lago General Carrera. En nuestro viaje visitaremos la localidad de Puerto Bertrand antes de llegar a Cochrane.

This will be a day you will never forget!! We will ride between mountains, rivers, cliffs and lush forests, we will arrive at Puerto Yungay where we will wait for the ferry that will transport us to Río Bravo to continue our trip to Villa O'Higgins. From there, just kilometers away we will find Bahamondes Bay and a sign that tells us that it is the End of Carretera Austral. After the obligatory photo and happy to have achieved the goal, we headed to Villa O'Higgins where a roast lamb dinner awaits us to celebrate this important milestone.

Este será un día que jamás olvidarás!! Rodaremos entre montañas, ríos, acantilados y frondosos bosques, llegaremos a Puerto Yungay donde esperaremos el ferry que nos transportará hasta Río Bravo para continuar nuestro viaje hasta Villa O’Higgins. Desde ahí, a tan sólo kilómetros nos encontraremos con Bahía Bahamondes y un letrero que nos señala que es el Fin de Carretera Austral. Luego de la foto de rigor y felices de haber logrado el objetivo nos dirigimos a Villa O'Higgins donde nos espera una cena de asado de cordero al palo para celebrar este importante hito.

After a refreshing breakfast, we head north on Route 7, where we can take in the beauty of one of the country's most beautiful off-road routes, with the opportunity to stop at viewpoints to admire the landscape. Our obligatory stop will be to visit Patagonia National Park, an example of wildlife conservation in Patagonia. Once we resume the Carretera Austral, we will arrive at Puerto Bertrand, a town located on the banks of the Baker River, the most voluminous river in the country.

Después de un reponedor desayuno, emprendemos rumbo norte por la Ruta 7 donde podremos ir contemplando la belleza de una de las rutas Off Road más bonitas del país, donde tendremos la posibilidad de detenernos en los miradores para contemplar el paisaje. Nuestra parada obligada será para visitar el Parque Nacional Patagonia, ejemplo del conservacionismo de la fauna en la Patagonia. Una vez retomamos Carretera Austral llegaremos a Puerto Bertrand localidad que se encuentra en las orillas del río Baker, el más caudalodo del país, para finalizar el día a las orillas del Lago General Carrera en un Lodge de ensueños.

This day we resume Route 7 heading north until we reach General Carrera Lake where we will ride through the southeastern end of the lake via one of the most complex routes of the journey, "El Paso de Las Llaves," until we reach Chile Chico. There, we will take a ferry that, after 2 and a half hours of navigation, will take us to the town of Puerto Ibáñez. From here, we will take one of the routes where you get the best view of the Cerro Castillo massif until we reach Route 7 where the pavement begins, leading us back to Coyhaique. Once in the regional capital, we prepare for our farewell dinner where we will share travel anecdotes.

Este día rodaremos por el extremo sureste del lago a través de una de las rutas más complejas del viaje "El Paso de Las Llaves" hasta llegar a Chile Chico, ahí tomaremos un ferry que luego de 2 horas y media de navegación llegaremos. ala localidad de Puerto Ibañez. Desde aquí tomaremos una de las rutas donde se consigue la mejor vista del macizo Cerro Castillo hasta llegar a la Ruta 7 donde comienza el pavimento que nos llevará de regreso a Coyhaique. Una vez en la capital regional nos preparamos para nuestra cena de despedida donde compartiremos las anécdotas del viaje.
