About this trip

The Mount Meru is the first sight you can see when reaching Arusha town. With 4,566 m, it is Tanzania's second-highest peak after Kilimanjaro and Africa's fifth-highest.

This 3-days Mount Meru Trekking starts at the Momella Gate (1500m) and ascends up to the summit (4567 m), where you will be escorted by an armed ranger. We will pass through various zones along the way, including montane forests, moorlands, and alpine deserts. Meru Summit, the highest point, and Ash Cone, an additional peak inside the crater that was formed after more recent volcanic activity, you will also get a chance to see wild animals on the way, like zebras, antelopes, white colobus monkeys, giraffes, elephants, and buffalo.

The 3 days Mount Meru climbing difficulty It’s moderately hard for an average hiker but spread out over three days, it is well within most people’s reach. The altitude is just low enough not to trouble most climbers.
