Mountains, Valleys, and Oceans: Yoga Retreat in El Salvador!

"Ultimately yoga is the exploration of the Mountains, Valleys and Oceans of our inner world, arriving back where we started, knowing ourselves for the first time."

We are so excited to travel to this breathtaking country! As the name suggests, this yoga retreat will offer you an opportunity to dive into adventure, seeing a wide variety of what the country has to offer.

We will hike the country's biggest volcano, visit ancient Mayan archeological sites, kayak through mangrove forests and the country's crater lake, visit thermal pools, and so much more! In addition to our days of adventure this retreat also offers ample time for rest and relaxation; we will be staying in a beachfront house in a gated community, giving us plenty of time to soak up the sun on both the pacific coast beach, and our private pool. With all this adventure plus yoga sessions of various styles from yin to yang every day, you're sure to experience a well balanced get-away!

In the yogic spirit of Samadi, we will be immersed for a full week creating connection with ourselves, the earth, and the present moment.

Visit the small colonial town in Ataco for a day at the thermal water pools.

Arrive in El Salvador!
The theme of the day is arrival! When you land in El Salvador transportation will be waiting to bring you to our Pacific beachfront home for the week in a gated community in Acajulta. Spend the rest of your day settling into your room, socializing with each-other, and enjoying the beach and pool right there in our backyard. We will have delicious Salvadorian food by our on site chef, and a sunset yoga session before getting a good nights rest for the rest of the week!*

Waterfall Magic
Start your day with breakfast, coffee, and our morning yoga session to fuel up for a day on the water!

We will be exploring El Salvadors natural beauty by visiting the Tamanique Waterfalls! Surrounded by rainforest, the Tamanique Waterfalls consist of four beautiful waterfalls, and a lagoon perfect for swimming.

After our day, we will head back to the house for some free time, dinner, and an evening yoga session.

Exploring Mayan Archeological Sites
After a morning yoga session and breakfast at the house, we will set out for a full day of cultural and historical exploration by visiting two of El Salvador's most notable archeological sites: Tazumal, and Joya De Cerén. After this full day of diving into rich history, we will return to the house for dinner and a relaxing evening yoga session.

Beach & Pool Relaxation
Half way through the week already! After a few days of exploration we have a free day to soak in the pool or ocean (or both!) at our beach house. Included in today is an optional cooking class with our chef to learn how to make some authentic Salvadoran cuisine.

Of course as always we will start and end the day with yoga! Weather permitting, we will have a sunset yoga session on the beach this evening.

Volcano Day!
This morning we will be rising early to make our way out to Santa Ana Volcano. This volcano is the highest in the country and contains a crater lake at its center. After the drive up to the park, we will join a guided tour to hike up to the top for stunning views.

After the active morning we will travel to the closely crater lake, Lago de Cotapeque, to take in the views and have some lunch.

After our active day, we will return home for afternoon yoga, beach/pool time, and dinner.

Ruta de Flores & Thermal Pools
As our last full day, this day is designed to both let us soak up the magic of the country, and soak up some relaxation!

After a morning yoga session and breakfast, we will set off on the "Ruta de las Flores", a drive through five towns: Nahuizalco, Salcoatitán, Juayúa, Apaneca, and Ataco. Along the way we will be stopping to see a variety of sites from architectural wonders, to natural ones. Along our journey we will also be stopping at a coffee farm for a tour and a deliciously locally grown cup of coffee.

At the end of this route, are the magically restorative thermal pools at Santa Teresa Hot springs. Relax and enjoy the hot springs, or add on extra spa treatments if you wish!

Farewell
It's not "goodbye", its "see you later".

After our magical week it's time to have a final breakfast and morning yoga session together (flight time permitting) before being transported back to the airport, taking back memories that will last a lifetime!

Dara selected Extraordinary lodging affording beach walks, pool/spa, outdoor seating to view the glorious sunsets. Dara's excursions are well planned with friendly and knowledgeable drivers and guide. We hiked to the rim of a volcano, walked the UNESCO Mayan ruins, hiked to a magnificent waterfall and lounged in the mineral hot springs. Chef was superb and expanded our palettes with local favorites. Yoga both morning and evening to energize or relax. I’m looking forward to the next Dara Adventure! PS. The ages were 20-30-40-50 and me at 70. Age was not a factor as we all enjoyed yoga as base commonality We learned from each other and are looking forward to gathering locally. Now that’s success!
