About your trip

 Join your AP classmates on an in depth Washington D.C. field trip. In addition to seeing many of the iconic sites of our nation’s capital city, you will have an opportunity for in-depth study at some of the institutions and museums that collect and store historic artifacts and documents. Enjoy D.C. at night including a show at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts as well as a night tour of the monuments.  This is a great opportunity to make your academic studies come to life in Washington, D.C. 

Here is what is included:

 

  • Luxury Motorcoach transportation with restroom, reclining seats, A/C, DVD player
  • Major museums in Washington D.C. area including African American History Museum, Marine Corps Museum, Smithsonian Museum of American History, Natural History, Air and Space Museum
  • Tickets to “Sheer Madness” or similar show (pending availability)
  • Night tour of D.C. with stops at major monuments

  • 3 hot buffet style breakfasts, 4 lunches and 4 dinners

Arrive in Washington D.C. and stop at the National Archives for viewing of Constitution, Bill of Rights and Declaration of Independence. Also, tour the Public Vaults, an interactive exhibit featuring historic examples of how the words of The Preamble to the Constitution have been carried out over the last 220 years!

Walk from Reagan Center to Lafayette Park for White House photo op

Walk from Lafayette Park to World War 2 Memorial

Pickup up  World War II Memorial

Leave hotel for George Washington’s Mount Vernon

Mount Vernon- mansion tours, museum visit and primary source document study

Leave Mount Vernon

National Archives

White House Tour (pending approval)

Dinner and Shopping at Pentagon City Fashion Place Mall

Drop off at Lincoln Memorial: Tour Korean War, Vietnam War and Lincoln Memorials

Pick up on Henry Bacon Drive by Vietnam War Memorial and depart for hotel

Library of Congress document study and tour including new 19th Amendment exhibit.

Lunch at U.S. Capitol food court (voucher)

United States Capitol Tour, Gallery and visit with U.S. Rep. Robert Gibbs (pending)

Supreme Court visit

Depart Capitol Hill for Kennedy Center

Sheer Madness-America's Hilarious Comedy Improve Whodunit  (tickets pending)

Depart for Air and Space Annex near Dulles Airport

Tour Smithsonian Air and Space Annex major attractions: Space Shuttle and Enola Gay World War II bomber.

Depart Air and Space Annex for lunch

Lunch buffet at Golden Corral, 17635 Valley Mall Rd. Hagerstown, MD 21740

Fast food stop (dinner on your own)
