About this trip

"Banares is a magnificent city, rising from the western bank of the River Ganges, where the river takes a broad crescent sweep toward the north. There is little in the world to compare with the splendor of Banares, seen from the river at dawn....." Diana Eck

Varanasi is one of the oldest living cities of the world compared to Jerusalem and Athens you are stepping into ancient land. All the sages, Yogis and masters of the world have come to Varanasi including Buddha, Shankara, Krishnamacharya to learn, teach and pray. It is believed to be one of the holiest cities on the planet and by many considered to be the center of the earth as the pace of creation but sit above the earth as a crossing place between this world and the divine.

This retreat aims to capture and embrace the magic, ritual and wisdom held in Varanasi through early morning boat ride to attend sunrise Aarti, Havana and Vedic ceremony followed by Yoga at AssiGhat.  Learn and experience how myth comes to life through our lectures with Banares Hindu University scholar alongside temple visits and sacred integration time.

Our amazing hotel is a quiet, luxurious hotel steps from the Ganga, yet an oasis as it is the quietest Ghat in all of Varanasi. Enjoy multiple boat rides along the Ganga as well as market shopping time as Varanasi has temples and shopping galore!

Our Kashi, Varanasi, retreat will transform and enlighten every cell in your body. The power and energy of this place is like none I have every experienced before. For it calls you long after you've left.

My family and I had a wonderful experience in Costa Rica with Maria Garre. The local community is inviting and vibrant. Maria’s retreats are authentic, adventurous, inspiring and so much fun! We will certainly continue to explore more with her.
This was my second trip to India with Maria, and first time in Varanasi. Varanasi is a truly magical city, with lots to explore. The hotel staff, professor, and guides were all top notch, and we were very well taken care of. Big thanks to Maria and her team!
