About this trip

From mind and body wellness to love and language, the ancient Greeks had forward-thinking practices that we can still learn from today. What is your myth? What are your muses? Join us on a curated, all inclusive Greek odyssey to create personal and collective dances, uncover and discover ways of expression as you rediscover your purpose, story, and inspiration.

Our intimate journey will begin where so much began - in Athens, the cradle of civilization. Join a welcome dinner under the illuminated ruins. Feel the palpable energy of past and present at our first session beneath the Acropolis, the great temple of Athena for which the city was named. We’ll continue with a ferry ride to the stunning, off-the-beaten-path island of Aegina to engage true self-discovery and renewed inspiration. A short drive to ancient temples and glistening beaches, you’ll unwind and transform under the Aegean sun with hand-made Mediterranean meals in a 19th century chateau oozing with character. Take a step back in time, and into yourself, as you gaze upon wooden fishing boats, ancient stones and the slower way of life on Aegina. Tap into creativity and abundance at the Temple of Aphaia, mother-goddess of fertility and agriculture. Awaken your senses in the warm aquamarine water of the Saronic Gulf surrounding Aegina. Transform myths into dances under the starry night sky.

Two daily Somatic Movement and Expressive Arts experiences. Ample free time to journal, be in silence, connect with nature, explore the city, laugh and play.

This is your invitation to rest, reset, and revitalize on the shores of Greece - a magical place which ignites the work of Maggie into something truly unparalleled.

Somatic Movement and Expressive Arts

"Just as the ancients danced to call upon the spirits in nature, we too can dance to find the spirits within ourselves that have been long buried and forgotten." ~ Anna Halprin

We will  practice the simplicity of awareness and awaken the vibrant energy of being alive and joyful. A daily practice of somatic movement and expressive arts. Through movement, art, writing, storytelling, witnessing, silence, improvisational drama techniques and sharing, this workshop will offer participants a chance to investigate and explore the meaning of  “home” in all its dimensions. An invitation to step away from the noise of the world and fly with full breath. To awaken the senses in a shared environment, to unravel our bindings and follow movement forward. To reopen the heart, expand and connect with what really matters. To build community, a sense of belonging and connection to the surroundings.

To rest, reset, rejuvenate, dance and play.

Accommodations

In Athens we will stay in a unique luxury boutique hotel located in the Plaka, just below The Acropolis with stunning views of the Acropolis and the Acropolis Museum from the rooftop restaurant and bar.

In Aegina, we will rest within the historical  19th Century Chateau, family owned and run by two Greek artist sisters. The house is elegant, rustic and a step back in time to a *simpler way of living.

The "Oikia," house in greek, is at the root of such words  as "ecosystem", "ecology".

To learn how to live in harmony in our common house,  planet Earth.

To learn how to live in harmony in our own intimate house, our self.

Reviews

This trip was adventure from start to finish; Maggie and Ari planned our itinerary beautifully, with surprises each day and lots of space for quiet rest or free time with friends. I felt like I could really relax and enjoy the ride, knowing they would take care of all the details. As a Tamalpa facilitator, Maggie holds a gentle space for her students to explore ourselves in body, mind, and spirit, and remains in loving presence during all that can arise in those explorations, both in group settings, and where one on one support is helpful. Her facilitation is loving, playful, and encouraging; it is not uncommon to surprise oneself in work with her. I will remember this trip fondly for the rest of my days (which are likely many). I invite anyone thinking of joining her on a retreat to take the leap and say yes.
