About this trip

This week along the beautiful beaches of Southern Nicaragua for the Nalu Healing Retreat 2.0 is a complete healing experience that will leave your entire system revitalized and restored.  Enjoy the raw beauty of untouched coastline and vibrant, friendly culture that reminds you to appreciate the simple things in life.

Tiffany Nalu Cooley guides a transformational journey of exploration, connection, movement, and holistic healing while adventuring together and creating new memories and experiences.

Each day is infused with yoga, acupuncture, sound healing, guided meditations, oracle readings, and opportunities to enjoy the warm tropical waves, low tide beach walks, relaxing poolside with a Pina Colada, or practicing your Spanish with our friendly staff.

In addition to plenty of relaxation, this retreat includes a full day trip to the majestic Isla de Ometepe, the largest freshwater volcanic island in the world formed by two volcanoes in the middle of Lake Nicaragua.

Additional activities and excursions are available, including surf lessons, boat trips, salsa lessons, Spanish lessons, hiking, additional day trips, etc.

OUR SPACE/HOTEL:

Equipped with a sparkling pool, WiFi, and A/C, you’ll be able to enjoy comfortable accommodations without losing the rustic touch that makes Gigante unique and travel so meaningful.

Yoga + healing sessions will be held between a tropical open space underneath our newly built grand palapa and a cliffside ocean view shala overlooking the bay just south of Playa Gigante.

There will be plenty of time to relax and unwind so feel free to take a moment to relax in one of our day beds or hammock, and appreciate the blue skies.

OUR FOOD

We have a full-service restaurant + bar to prepare meals and beverages during this retreat. Enjoy fresh, locally-sourced ingredients with delicious options for all dietary needs and preferences.  Experience delicious tropical fruits, fresh caught fish, local produce, and a thoughtfully crafted menu to keep you satisfied.

THE COMMUNITY OF PLAYA GIGANTE

A colorful fishing village off the beaten path, El Gigante is located just over an hour north of San Juan Del Sur on Nicaragua's beautiful Pacific Coast. The town is aptly named “big foot” when translated from Spanish to describe the gentle green foothills that meet the ocean with such ease. A town filled with untouched beaches, roaming farm animals, and dirt pathways; you’ll quickly remember the importance of slowing down and to embrace living simply.

The lifestyle and culture here very much embodies the phrase “Take it Easy”. Arriving here feels like taking one long exhale and a chance to just be.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a traditional Chinese medicine using hair thin, single-use needles to stimulate blood flow throughout the body.

There are channels of blood, lymph and nerve flow throughout the body called meridians.  Along these meridians there are many acupuncture points. Points will be carefully chosen for daily group acupuncture sessions, or given to open and ground the body at the end of yoga/meditation.

Meet Acupuncturist: Tiffany

Tiffany Nalu Cooley has been facilitating healing sessions since she was 21. Her entire adult life has been devoted to learning about the human body, the mind/body/spirit connection, & how to facilitate healing for all aspects of this human experience. As a licensed acupuncturist, she founded Nalu Healing Arts in 2019, and just 2 years later received the awards for San Diego’s Best Medical Spa & Best Acupuncturist. She partnered with Sahkara Apothecary who won top finalist up for San Diego’s Best Apothecary.

Nalu has been doing community style group acupuncture since she graduated from Pacific College of Health & Science in 2015, and has joined retreats to facilitate acupuncture and sound healing sessions.

Her path as a wellness practitioner started with a passion in anatomy & physiology. During massage school at the age of 21 she became aware of the power that our emotions & stress have on the body, mixed with an obsession with mental health she received her undergrad in Psychology. In recent years she fell in love with crystal singing bowls & the power that the vibration they emit has on the nervous system. She combines the vibrational sound with acupuncture in her sessions creating a complete reset for the nervous system.

Her educational background is as follows:

Massage Therapist at the age of 21.

Reiki Master at 23.
Started prerequisites for acupuncture school at 25.
Finished her undergrad with an emphasis on psychology at 29.
Became a licensed acupuncturist at the age of 34.
She completes 50 hours minimum of continuing education every 2 years to keep up with her license & refreshing her mind.
She is currently enrolled in the Functional Medicine University.

Meet Acupuncturist: Senna

Senna Servati graduated from the University of California, Riverside with a Bachelor’s in Ethnic Studies. She continued her educational studies receiving a Masters of Science in Traditional Oriental Medicine from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine, in San Diego, CA. She has been trained in multiple therapeutic modalities including acupuncture, herbology, nutritional therapy, fire cupping, moxibustion, electrical stimulation, gua sha, massage, breath work, Cranio-sacral therapy, tai qi, and qi gong. She is a licensed acupuncturist and herbalist in the state of California.  Her passion for the healing arts started at a young age when she was immersed whole-heartedly into meditative and breath work practices by her grandmother. She also has a tremendous love for gardening and cooking, particularly in creating delicious nutritionally healing meals, and will never pass up a trip to the beach

Yoga

To compliment the energetic healing points of Acupuncture, the yoga flows will build on our other energy channel, the Chakra System. Everyday there will be a combination of two of the Chakras, building from Root, grounding and manifestation, to Crown, liberation and transcendence.

About Instructor: Ashley

A Texas native, and calling Gigante home for over the past year, Ashley found yoga as a senior in high school, and has been teaching for the last 5 years. She is Vinyasa 200 RYT certified with additional education such as Energetic Anatomy, Bhakti (devotional storytelling), and Foundations of Trauma Therapy. Reviews

I’ve attended 6 other retreats, so I came in with certain expectations, and overall, this one had a lot of positives, but there were also significant disappointments. First, the people and the classes were fantastic. Heather, Ashley, and the community that gathered were exactly what I hoped for – warm, engaging, and inspiring. The Booty Luv and yoga sessions were well-run, and the group dynamic was lovely. Conversations flowed easily, and I definitely left with a sense of connection. However, I was let down by the venue, which really didn't match the caliber of the experience I was expecting. The meal service was a major issue. Waiting anywhere from 30 to 50 minutes for lukewarm food was frustrating, especially in a retreat setting where the supposedly have done this before. Waiting over 45 minutes for a drink to be delivered was common – if I could even get someone to take my order. For the long waits, it would’ve been nice to have something simple like chips and salsa available to tide us over. I found myself eating a snack before meals just to avoid getting hangry. The rooms also didn’t provide the ambiance I anticipated. They felt very generic – like a room you could find anywhere, with no real connection to the Costa Rica or the area. The yoga shala lacked any pretty views or aesthetic charm that I’ve come to expect from retreats, especially those at BL locations. As for the location itself, I didn’t feel like I got the Costa Rican experience I was hoping for. Unless you’re a surfer, Playa Grande isn’t much to explore. The beach had no shade or umbrellas, and while you could walk along it, it was too hot to do so during the day, where morning/evening walks often conflicting with class schedules. The town didn’t offer much in terms of places to visit either. I ended up taking a day trip to Tamarindo, which had a much better vibe. I didn't care for retreat schedule being different every day. While I understand that adjustments happen, I didn’t love that the times for meals, classes, and activities were different every day, except for the 4pm class. It made me feel like I had to stay glued to my phone for updates or find the schudule. Plus, getting up early for class and then having to wait until 9am or later for breakfast was difficult. I found myself eating a snack first thing in the morning because I was starving. For the extra expense and travel hassle to get to Costa Rica, the location didn’t deliver the experience I expected. Overall, I loved the people and the classes but would not return to Playa Grande or the Rip Jack Inn.

Another amazing Booty Luv retreat in the books! The location was fantastic, steps from the beach with ample pools and hammocks to lounge in. The movement classes were excellent, with plenty of booty break downs and opportunities to go deep in yoga. And, an extra special group of ladies creating a supportive and inspiring community for each of us to immerse ourselves in for 6 glorious days together. Thank you to Heather, Kate, and Ashley for being our guru's and ensuring we were well taken care of!

I had a fantastic time! Travel to and from the airport went perfectly. The additional activities/excursions were amazing and Kate’s local guides were absolutely incredible. A trip organizers and instructors went above and beyond to ensure everything was taken care of and that we had an unforgettable time!

Nicaragua is beautiful! I highly recommend visiting this part of the world. It's small, it's local, it's quaint. Ashley is absolutely amazing at being a gifted yoga instructor. 10/10 would participate in another travel yoga retreat with her. My one thing: watch what you eat if you have a weak stomach, such as street food.

We had an amazing time with great people. Met many wonderful people from Bali, and the people responsible for all the activities did not mis a beat. So amazing. Good food and so much culture to learn about. The yoga was the best ever and so inspirational. Can't wait for the next Room to Roam experience.

I can’t say enough about my wonderful experience with Kate, Ashley, Lorenzo and the whole staff at Room to Roam! This trip was truly magical. I was a little nervous to travel for the first time since COVID. Kate took such great care ushering me in to Nicaragua. I was very stressed at home prior to leaving and Kate kept taking things off my plate as I prepared to leave. Upon arrival we were greeted so warmly by the staff. I was instantly relaxed. Marco’s truly does make the BEST passion fruit margarita on the planet! My intention was surf and boy did I fall back in love with surfing, but I am really walking away with so much more- a complete reboot for my body, mind and soul! I’ll be back again soon! PS the food is out of the this world! Every single meal…. Mouth watering!
