About this trip

Celebrate a disconnect from all that distracts in the day to day.  Immerse in nature in an unique off-grid experience.  Our program is designed to support students in an authentic natural learning environment.

The program will be  facilitated from our base camp, deep in the mountainous region of the Kootenay Boundary region.

Students will wake to the sounds so playful robins and squirrels, practice under old growth cedars, study creek side, and unwind by evening campfires under the stars.

The program is designed to follow the following elements :

Traditional and modern ethics of yoga

Meditation

Anatomy

Yoga Philosophy

Business

Nutrition

Development Of Authentic Practice

Asanas

Our base team will be providing you with a prepared and comfortable home camp.  We provide the tents / bedding / mattress / supplies.  You simply arrive with your personal belongings and your mat  / block / strap.

The team will be providing you with three vegetarian meals per day. Meals are designed with your nutrition in mind - healthy, fresh, energy sourced.

Our days will be diverse!  It's not all on the mat.  It's not all in the books.  The program is intended to be immersive and inspiring.  We will move, engage in fulfilling discussions, support one another, and celebrate all that nature has to offer - uninterrupted.

What To Expect

You can anticipate four classes via zoom in advance of your arrival.  In these zoom classes we will cover some of the lessons, to allow us more time together in relaxation while on site.

You can expect simple meals.  All of the meals are made with careful consideration to your nutrition and fueling your body in an energy sustaining way.  You can plan to enjoy plenty of hearty salads, vegetable rich soups, roasted vegetable medleys, and protein rich greens.

Fantastic sunny weather!  BUT, wit that said, there is always the possibility of rain or cool evenings.  We will not have access to a laundry service - please pack accordingly.  Those who chill easily should pack an extra blanket.

Expect a stunning background to your day.  Mountains, green surrounds, creeks in the distance and peace.  Our yoga space is natural.  Prepare for practicing on a surface that is not as consistently flat as your home studio!

A supportive peer group!  And we appreciate that from you too!  Arriving with a sense of adventure and dedication to a remarkable experience is really appreciated.  Our aim is to form a positive and uplifting learning space out in the forest!

What About Arriving?

Students will all meet in Grand Forks BC on the start date at 10 am.  Then, collectively we will travel to the site and get settled in.  Those who are flying, should plan to fly into Kelowna or Castlegar the day before the program starts.  If you are needing assistance with a shuttle service.  Please let us know so we can assist in coordination.

What Will We Cover Specifically?

The 200-hour Yoga Alliance Certified Yoga Foundations course is designed to deepen your practice and give you the tools to guide your very own dynamic, original, safe and well-rounded yoga class upon graduation. This training was a great investment. Training was solid, food was amazing, people were spectacular, and the island was one of the coolest places I have ever been. I highly recommend joining Kootenay for yoga training!

I cannot describe with words what I feel after this YTTC, definitely a life changing experience. I started doing yoga during lockdown, didn't have a huge experience as a yogi, but despite my fears and insecurities if I was going to be at the right level for this course, I applied for it and I can't be happier and more proud of myself for making this decision. After these 2 weeks of intense training, I feel full of love, energy, confidence, vitality, and extremely excited to share everything I've learnt during the course with everyone around me. I couldn't have asked for a better group/team/family to go through this training. Emma always available for any questions or requests before and during the course. Lisa, amazing human being and chef (even if she says she doesn't know how to cook, she does know, and very well!!), she has fed us every day with the most tasty, colourful and nutritious food that helped us go through all our sessions fully energised. This has been a huge part of the training so massive thank you for that. Luisa and Sky, my two companions on this trip, always supportive, helpful and open to share with pure love, really grateful to have them as my friends now. Last but not least, Michelle, the best teacher I could ever ask for. She has been my reference, inspiration and guide along this journey, and she will always be. Michelle has an incredible intuition to understand the needs of each person and adapt those to the whole group, she chose the very best pace for teaching both the physical and the theoretical sides of the training, enabling us to learn, adapt our bodies and minds and really important avoiding any kind of injury, which in my case it's huge this hasn't happened. And of course, she is pure love and beauty inside and out, open to share her experiences, which helped me and the whole group to feel safe and confident to share also our ideas and thoughts without judgement but pure support and understanding. When I was about to choose which YTTC to go to, I read these reviews many times to see the feedback from the people attending to this courses. And this is my chance now. I would recommend to everyone to take this course, honestly, the best decision you will ever make. If you want to deepen your knowledge as a yoga practitioner or teacher, whatever your level is, being immersed in a peaceful space of love, support with amazing food and people, this is the YTTC you should choose :)

Lisa and Addy were amazing organizers!!! This mother-daughter duo is unmatched with their work ethic, kindness, spontaneity, and creativity. They are very experienced in the hospitality industry and it showed! All of the meals were well thought-out and delicious :) Sarah the instructor was so kind, flexible and knowledgable! She shared so much of her wisdom with us and it was truly life-changing! We had a wonderful group full of amazing and inspiring people. I would highly recommend this yoga teacher training experience.

Calling the trip great would be a huge understatement. Lisa and Addy did everything To accommodate us and make us super happy. The food was just incredibly good. Considering the off grit setting I don’t even know what it must take to feed us every day like this. The tents were very comfortable and the site was just perfect to just escape and immerse into nature and yoga. There were not too many mosquitoes so it was very nice to sit outside in the evenings and do some extra yoga sessions during sunset . Sarah, the teacher was just mindblowing. She always adjusted to the needs of the group and inspired us to find our path. Her teaching was profound and very knowledgeable . Focus was on chakras and breathing . We had awesome extra activities such as hiking, horseback riding and water boarding. It was just perfection. Thank you Lisa and Addy and Sarah. I hope you’ll have more awesome people to share their journey with you Best wishes Sarah

The program was more than expected, I am so grateful for the experience, the incredible instructors, a really great group of ladies and an enjoyable journey all around. Felt a lot of support and guidance through the process. Very grateful for the organizer, Lisa who is a wonderful human being, always available if you need anything and a joy to talk to. I could not have found a better experience. Thank you!
