About this trip

About Autumn Benedetti
Autumn Benedetti began a personal yoga practice in middle school, and completed her teacher training in 2007 to pursue a deeper understanding of yoga. She currently resides in the aptly named Paradise Valley, in the beautiful town of Livingston, Montana. She is a certified instructor with 10 years of teaching experience nationally and internationally, inclusive of yoga retreats, workshops, group classes, and individual sessions (private lessons). Autumn has attended numerous workshops and conferences in and out of the country to further her training. Autumn’s passion for the art and practice of yoga stems from the continued inspiration, growth and inner-wisdom involved. In her teaching, she draws on elements of Vinyasa, Yin, Ashtanga, Viniyoga, Yoga Nidra, Restorative, and Partner Yoga methodologies, to create a practice that nurtures and fulfills each of her students’ individual needs.

The Feathered Pipe Ranch:
Nestled in the pulsing heart of the Montana Rockies is a place like no other – the Feathered Pipe Ranch. One of the oldest centers for conscious living and yoga retreats in the country, Feathered Pipe offers workshop experiences guided by some of the world’s finest teachers in a relaxed, leisurely, nature-drenched setting.

RETREAT OVERVIEW:

Intentions:
Join Montana-born yoga teacher Autumn Benedetti in an extended Labor Day weekend retreat designed to guide all levels of practitioners in deepening their practice on the mat to authentically apply yogic principals and intentions off the mat. Throughout the retreat, practitioners will cultivate increased purpose, passion, and vibrancy to draw upon in daily life. This is an opportunity to rejuvenate, release, and manifest clarity in your mind, body, and soul with healthy local food, daily asana and spiritual practices, immersion in nature, and the perfect touch of adventure.

Expectations:
Daily morning and evening yoga asana practices will assist practitioners in refining and deepening postures for optimal benefit, safety, stamina, grace, and ease. Daily indoor/outdoor meditation and mindfulness practices will create space for reflection, surrender, discovery, and connection to self, community, and environment. Practitioners can expect to focus on integration of breath with movement-and yoga postures with philosophy, clarity of instruction, a light-hearted atmosphere, demystification of challenging yoga postures, great music, and hands-on assists to encourage their authentic practice to unfold.

Fulfillment:
Reconnect to your intuition, and deepen self-realization in this tranquil and sustainable mountain sanctuary, surrounded by serene wilderness. Off the mat, you’ll have time to savor the ample hiking, canoeing, swimming, Big Sky vistas, lakeside journaling, fishing, and star-gazing opportunities offered on site. Enjoy the sweat lodge, massage and bodywork specialists, and a beautiful bathhouse containing a sauna and a hot tub. The Feathered Pipe is located within close proximity to river rafting and canoe trips, horseback riding, historic cave pictographs, and scenic boat trips through the Gates of the Mountains.

CUISINE
You can expect to eat very well!
We are fortunate to have access to organic food through the Real Food Deli and Market in Helena – Montana’s first and only certified organic grocery store. All the meat we serve comes from local organic or transitional producers as does much of our produce. Every day you will enjoy our nutritious salad bars and entrees. Vegetarian, and fish or chicken alternatives are available at most workshops although we do honor the requests of some of our teachers to keep a vegetarian table during their retreat.
We happily accommodate most special diets – please remember complete the dietary restriction section of this website to ensure your dietary needs are met.
Alcohol is not included with the retreat package. However, local beer and wine will be available at an additional cost for those who select the upgrade.  Please select this upgrade in the pricing section.

SPA
We provide bedding, towels, and all the amenities you’d expect with indoor lodging. There is a cedar wood bathhouse with showers, a sauna, a hot tub and massage rooms. Outdoor lodging guests have their own private storage nook for toiletries and personal effects in the bathhouse. The bathhouse is no more than a five-minute walk from any accommodation. Okay, maybe ten minutes if you stroll really slowly, which happens to a lot of our guests as they relax into the week.

YOGA PROPS and MATERIAL
A yoga mat can be like a good friend, dependable and comforting, so we encourage you to bring your friend! If you choose to travel without your mat, or wish to meet a new "friend" when you get here, we have plenty of mats, blankets and blocks available.

Not included

Massage and Bodywork
Professional massage and bodywork is not included in the retreat package but is available and recommended for an additional fee. We are happy to boast that we have some of the best body workers around. Introductions to our bodyworkers and details about how to sign up and where to go for your session will be shared at the retreat orientation and appointments can be made then. It’s a good idea to sign up early as their schedules often fill quickly! Payment is by cash or check only; our bodyworkers do not accept credit cards. Gratuity is welcome!

Offsite Activities
We highly recommend extending your Montana experience!  The Feathered Pipe is located within close proximity to river rafting and canoe trips, horseback riding, historic cave pictographs, and scenic boat trips through the Gates of the Mountains. Glacier National Park and Yellowstone National Park are must sees during your time in Big Sky Country. Numerous hot springs are located in the surrounding area, and you haven't completely experienced relaxation until you have soaked under the stars in natural mineral baths listening to live acoustic music. These off site activities are not arranged through the retreat, however we encourage you to extend your trip and take full advantage of any offerings that resonate with you! We are happy to talk with you more about additional activities that you may enjoy during your time in Montana.

Before You Go

What to Bring
The atmosphere is quite casual so please dress for your comfort.  It is not uncommon to experience all four seasons in one day in Montana. Be sure to check the weather ahead of time, but know that mother nature has her own agenda! We advise packing layers...better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it!  Don’t worry about bedding – we have more than enough to keep you warm whether you are in the Main Lodge or snuggled up toasty in a yurt, tent or tipi.

These suggestions are by no means all-inclusive, but may help you plan for your Montana adventure:
Comfortable hiking shoes, slippers or warm socks, light gloves, cozy hat, light down coat or fleece, warm layers, rain/waterproof jacket, flashlight, water bottle, journal, swimsuit, camera, binoculars, sunscreen

Flying:

We recommend the Helena Regional Airport for those coming to retreats and programs at the Feathered Pipe Ranch. Direct flights into Helena currently originate in Salt Lake City, UT (Delta Airlines), Denver, CO (United Airlines) and Great Falls, MT (Alaska Airlines).

Airlines fly in from all parts of the country on a regular basis, with Delta serving those flying from the East Coast, Midwest, Mountain and West Coast via their Minneapolis and Salt Lake City hub, United Airlines serving passengers from all over via the Denver hub, and Alaskan Airlines serving West Coast flyers via their Seattle hub.

Missoula International Airport and Bozeman International Airport are also feasible points of arrival but will require a two hour commute via bus or auto that you will need to arrange yourself. For those interested in art and cultural events, Missoula might be the place to spend a few extra days. If you are planning to go to Glacier National Park consider Great Falls, and Bozeman if you wish to spend some extra time in Yellowstone National Park.

Ground Transportation
There are various rental cars available on or near these airport locations if you choose to have your own vehicle during your stay.
For those coming for a Feathered Pipe Ranch retreat, we can meet flights at the Helena Regional Airport, offering shuttle service for $65 roundtrip. The shuttle can be scheduled between 8am and 9pm on arrival/departure days. If you choose this option you must select it as an add-on upgrade ahead of time, when booking your retreat room preference on the pricing page. Our driver will meet you at baggage claim wearing a Feathered Pipe t-shirt. We are now grouping some pick-ups, so you may have a 30 minute wait. Please contact Autumn directly if you choose this option to notify her of your itinerary or with any questions.

Cancellation Policy
Our cancellation policy is firm, therefore we suggest purchasing travel/cancellation insurance ahead of time. In the case of cancellation, travel costs are non-refundable by Autumn Benedetti or the Feathered Pipe. This retreat has a 15 person minimum. If the retreat minimum has not been reached by March 20, you will receive a full refund for retreat costs paid to Autumn Benedetti and the Feathered Pipe, minus wetravel website payment processing costs and credit card processing fees.
