About this trip

In the middle of the Atlantic lies an archipelago brimming with kaleidoscopic landscapes, volcanic rumblings, twisting grapevines, and a collective pride fostered by centuries of isolation.

Often referred to as Europe's “Best Kept Secret”, the Azores have become an increasingly popular destination with year-round appeal for travelers.  Located 850 miles west of what the Portuguese call the “mainland”, they are known for their dedication to sustainable tourism - hotels and restaurants operate in perfect harmony with the environment.

In this tour, discover the nature, history and food of four islands: São Miguel, Pico, São Jorge, and Terceira and the beautiful landscapes and unique cultural heritage of each island.

At the end of the ten days in The Azores, board a flight to Lisbon for four nights there. The hotel and breakfast is included in the tour price, but there are no planned services during your days there.

Flights are not included, but flight reservations from NYC/JFK have been secured. The route includes the flight to The Azores, three internal flights, the trip to Lisbon and back to JFK. Cost will be determined at time of booking. Please see below for more information

Space is limited and the deadline is May 14. There are only three places left, although there will be a waitlist. If you prefer to pay by check, please contact me at croyston@globalgourmands.com.

What an incredible experience. This trip was a trip of a lifetime. Claudia did a superb job with Madelaine, organizing and putting together a very well-paced schedule. We had the perfect mix of city, country, high-end dinners, country dinners, cooking classes, sight-seeing, and wine-tasting. We were able to get up close and personal with the local communities and got to learn so much about their culture, food, local wine and cooking. Claudia was a great help whenever we needed her and Madelaine is the epitome of grace, humility and knowledge of food. Looking forward to your next trip Madelaine!!!!! THANK YOU for a wonderful time.

The food and wine were delicious, and the portions were generous. The hosts and producers who welcomed us were pleasant and informative. Our local guide was knowledgeable, kept us on schedule with gentle nudging, and had a wonderful sense of humor. We certainly got to sample the cuisine and also many aspects of the culture.
