About this trip
Calling all ocean loving, outdoorsy types who love to look at nature! Come connect with like-minded people and journal with Jack "at the end of the road".
This 6-day/5-night gathering will be a chance to turn Alaska's beauty into art, with John Muir Laws, aka "Jack".
Our adventure will be enjoyed in Cordova, the tiny, "no road" community the Copper River fishing fleet calls home. The oceanfront Orca Adventure Lodge is our base in an Alaskan bush town on spectacular Prince William Sound.
And it's leading up to SOLSTICE. With almost 24 hours of daylight each day, there will be time for everything: exploring a still-wild place, kayaking in glacial pools, immersing yourself in salmon culture, and enjoying great meals overlooking the ocean.
What’s included
- Journaling SessionsSessions with Jack & Co. to capture Alaska's beauty on paper. Appropriate for the beginner or longtime sketcher, we'll learn about and practice our observation and art.
- 5 Nights LodgingSimple, comfortable, cozy rooms (each with private bath) on the ocean and off the beaten path. Our lodge, in a town not accessible by car, epitomizes "the end of the road".
- All MealsMeals onsite (in a private, historic, cannery cookhouse) and outdoors (picnics and barbecues at adventure locales) prepared by Chef George Fecter & Co.
- All Ground TransportPick up from the Cordova (CDV) airport, transportation to & from all outings, and return to CDV airport in comfortable, spacious passenger vans.
- Glacier FloatPaddle two-person kayaks in and around magnificent ice features through pristine Alaskan waters.
- A Field TripLet's walk in this wonderful watershed. We'll explore the Copper River Delta, which drains one of the most vast (25,000 square miles) and pristine watersheds in the world.
- Science SessionA private, interactive tour of our Prince William Sound Science Center. We'll explore the sound's ecology and oceanography on a private tour unlike any other in Alaska.
- The Best Bar in TownAn oyster bar, that is! It's time to shuck & suck delicious local oysters on tap, pulled straight from the sea for us (and served with all the accouterments).
- Down Time on the WaterUnlimited kayaking and fishing on site. Or just relax in the wood-fired sauna overlooking the sound, watch the salmon jumping from shore, or kick back around the campfire, steps from your room.
- Pre-Trip Meet & GreetA video meeting with all other guests prior to trip departure. We'll visit and answer packing and trip questions.
- Great Payment PlanDeposit + multiple equal payments (interest free). Registered guests can CROWD FUND their trips, using a secure link to raise funds for their travel.

- AirfareAirfare into & out of Cordova, AK, on its jet. Arrive 6/14/26 Alaska Airlines Flight 66; depart 6/19/26 Flight 61. Book your flight early please :) we will fill up the plane!
- The Whale's TaleDelicious espresso, tea, chai, and housemade chowder and soups at the lodge owner's onsite coffee shop.
- SouvenirsMementos you discover in this hamlet by the sea.
- AlcoholGuests of age are welcome to purchase beverages in town and BYOB at the lodge, storing their items in the dining hall.

A really incredible experience so thoughtfully and meaningfully curated by Kim. Our guides were not only knowledgeable and experienced but incredibly curious and eager to learn with us and passionate about sharing their love for Alaska and running. The accommodations were lovely and quaint and we ate well every day. Loved every minute of it!

There aren't enough stars to rate the wonder, beauty, and the absolute adventure that was this trip.
The itinerary was perfectly set, a fine balance of exploration, Alaskan culture, and meaningful connection.
The food was always 10/10 and our hosts: Kim, Jed, the Orca Lodge, Jackson, and Alaska herself, treated us well and made us feel like old friends. This trip exceeded my expectations. It left me wanting more and I cannot wait to go back.
Oh and heads up: Really interesting, cool people go on these trips. This trip attracted the most kind, generous, curious, spiritually-awake humans...and I got to hang out with them all week long. Cordova tapped us into a current that felt celebratory, there was collective joy and lifelong friendships were born. Thank you Cordova. You are forever in my heart.

An unbelievably wonderful experience! We had such an amazing time kayaking through ice bergs, hiking through beautiful scenery, and fishing for some delicious Alaskan fish! Kim did an amazing job planning our week out and the staff at Orca Lodge was impeccable. The food was so delicious and the service was wonderful. Highly recommend the entire experience!

It was absolutely spectacular. I can’t say enough good things about this trip.
It will be a core memory I will carry with me forever.
The location, the people, the food, the experience is like nothing I have ever experienced. It felt magical.
