About this trip

Rapid Everest Base Camp Trek is obvious to endow hikers with  tremendous Everest Region mountain visuals. But no less than mountain  vistas, there are abundant other endearing aspects on the EBC trekking  route.

Starting with a flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, the landscape and  mountain scenery from the chopper’s window appear absolutely appealing.  Eminent worldwide for having the most adventurous airport, even the  Lukla airport landing is mindblowing in itself. The tiny, sloppy, and  short runway with a capacity of 4 airstrip parking at the edge of  Dudhkoshi River makes the landing quite exciting.

Thereafter, what makes your Rapid EBC trek redolent is your entry into the world’s highest National Park,  Sagarmatha National Park. Protected by the Nepal Army forces, the park  lets you occasionally take a glimpse of rare alpine birds and animals.  In addition, the parks also host medicinal herbs and other floral  species.

Merely the day in Namche Bazaar proffers hikers with the best Sherpa  Cultural tours. Be it the visit to Namche Monastery, tasting the local  Yak cheese, or meeting up with the legendary Sherpa your initial  trekking days of EBC trek in Namche blooms your journey.

The backdrop view of Ama Dablam from Tengboche Monastery quenches your lust for exploring unique to some extent. Proceeding further, the Everest Climbers Memorial Park at Lobuche Pass and Everest Climate and Global Warming Investigation Center are way more pleasing for EBC hikers.

You also have the opportunity to examine formidable vistas of Mt.  Everest and surrounding peaks during the hike of Kalapatthar which is  the main highest goal of this trek.

1) Best season for Rapid EBC Trek

Simply,  all the seasons are the best for doing this trek, but especially, the  months ranging from March to May and September to November are  considered as best time because the morning stays clear with bright  sunshine till afternoon and wildflowers bloom in plenty making  refreshing and pleasant environment for trekking.

However,  the months of October to early December are the second best time for  trekking. There is more possibility of snowfall in some high areas en  route to EBC. The temperature drop down to minus degree Celsius in the  morning and night. Despite this, the temperatures during the daytime  skies are still clean as the mountain views are clearer and are a good time for trekking on Everest.

2) Foods and Accommodation

The  lodge/ teahouses provide various kinds of foods. It consists of soups,  steaks, sandwiches, momo, macaroni dishes, pizza, etc. It is better to  include light foods during lunchtime as it makes you feel lighter and  easy while you walk. You can also eat Nepalese Dal Bhat, pickle and  fresh organic vegetables curry. But for high altitude, we always  recommended garlic soup which is a natural means of preventing altitude  sickness along with the Nepalese staple diet of Dal Bhat.

The  teahouses provide cozy rooms during the rapid EBC trek. As you ascend  higher, the rooms are available in twin- sharing basis. The room is  comfortable and clean. The shower and rest room will be on sharing  basis. In a room, you will find two beds with mattresses, a pillow and  warm blankets.

3) Fitness/ Experience

Physical fitness level, health, and medical required for Rapid EBC trek. The EBC is not a strenuous trekking  trail. You will be regularly hiking for around 3 to 4 hours on average  depending on the destination. So, this trek is not recommended for  trekkers who are suffering from chronic ailments or have heart or lung  diseases. It is better to avoid this trip.

However,  all the trekkers having an average level of fitness can easily complete  this trek. If you have any kind of previous trekking experience or  regular exercise it will be an added advantage but not compulsory.

4) Travel Insurance

Any  trek in Nepal, including the Rapid EBC Trek, demands travel insurance.  The trek includes high- altitude trekking, which may be physically  challenging and dangerous. When buying travel insurance for the Rapid  EBC trek, ensure that it covers high altitude trekking and emergency  helicopter evacuation, as these can be expensive without insurance.  Furthermore, obtain additional coverage of activities like hiking, mountaineering, and adventure sports.

5) Altitude sickness

Altitude  sickness is common in mountains above the altitude of 3000 m. Headache,  nausea, tiredness, shortness in breathe, difficulty sleeping, loss of  appetite, rapid pulse and extreme dehydration etc are the symptoms occur  when your body tries to adjust to the lower air pressure and lower  oxygen levels at high altitudes. If any of these symptoms are seen on  you while trekking in Everest region you should immediately get the  medical help before it is too late.

Here are the tips which has been tried our experienced trekking guides to prevent altitude sickness in EBC trek.
