Hi, my name is Nevaeh Shaw. I am a senior graduating in December 2023 from the University of Missouri- Columbia. I am majoring in Nursing and this summer we have the opportunity to study abroad in Florence, Italy. This study abroad program “Nursing Ethics in Italy”, will allow me to gain an in-depth understanding of ethical dilemmas and how nurses around the world would handle those specific situations. Over the last few semesters, I have come to understand the huge role ethics plays in nursing and I am confident that this program will only help expand my knowledge and perspective to a completely new level that will only help me provide the best nursing care possible. My entire life I have always loved the idea of traveling and dreamed of going overseas. I love learning and immersing myself in new cultures. Exploring the city and looking at the structures of buildings, clothing, foods, and all of the things that make up a culture would be a wonderful experience. The financial responsibility has become too great for my father to handle on his own. This will truly be an experience of a lifetime and with your help, my dream of traveling will come true and be used to further my academic career. Anything that your heart feels to give will be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much for taking the time to help me or even sharing this with someone else.
