About this trip

A tour of Ghana, West Africa is one gift that will last for a lifetime for any age. This tour will be ingrained in the participants memory forever. Travelers will head out the day after Christmas for an overnight flight and arrive in Accra the next day. With the spirit of celebration in the air, our guest will explore the inspiration behind the independence movement of the country lead by Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. We will keep the exact details flexible to make room for holiday celebrations, the many music festivals and set nights, but you will experience the a return experience that nudged the civil rights movement in the U.S. and called for the unification of the diaspora. We will also take two days to visit Cape Coast to complete a mini Sankofa Return experience. Then, we will hop back on the Detty December train till we bring in the new year!

Understand, this heavily discounted rate is temporary. It is for a limited time as the itinerary cannot be solidified until we are 10 months out. This offer will close at midnight on Feb 29th.

Please note prices reflect double occupancy; single upgrades are available.

This itinerary is subject to change.

Reviews

Greetings, Dear Sankofa US, First, “THANK YOU” for your willingness to serve as pilots for the Blue Family’s Ghana Independence Tour for our travel back home to Ghana! The journey would not be possible without Sankofa US, and we do not take lightly the sacrifice the entire team made to leave your home, work, life, etc. The passion and energy the team gave to the family are unparalleled, and I respect the spirit of the Sankofa team immensely. Thank you for being so selfless not just with us, but for so many in whose lives you make a tangible difference. I pray that the good work you do will come back to you many times over. Thank you again for leading us. Sincere regards, Carl Griggs

Thank you for the opportunity to leave a review. My experience on The Blue Family's Ghana Independence Tour 2025 with Sankofa US was absolutely amazing. It was the perfect balance of vacation and educational experience. The tour facilitators were incredibly efficient, ensuring no time was wasted on inconsequential exploration. Each location we visited was rich with history, relevant to my life, and a must-see in Ghana. The itinerary was practical and engaging, and the lodging was strategically planned, moving from a basic hotel to a 5-star resort. The breakfast and dinner selections were perfect, and the family-style meals fostered continued engagement with my family. I wholeheartedly recommend Sankofa US to anyone looking to explore Ghana. Their extensive knowledge was an added bonus, leaving me eager to learn more about each location we visited. This trip was truly a life-changing and transformative experience.
