Next Level Yoga Community and Synergy Yoga are delighted to invite you on the adventure of a lifetime.
Our journey begins in Nairobi, Kenya. You will be picked up from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) and brought to the 5 ⭐️ Movenpick Hotel in the Westlands district of Nairobi. Our retreat will open with a welcome circle, yoga class, and dinner at the incredible Beit e Selam restaurant!
The day after international arrivals, we’ll travel from Nairobi’s higher altitude down into the Great Rift Valley — the birthplace of our species! The views as we descend from the escarpment into the valley are absolutely stunning. For three nights, we’ll stay inside Lake Nakuru National Park at the breathtaking Sopa Lodge. This Bush leg of the journey includes safari tours in Land Rovers where we’ll see an incredible range of wildlife; daily yoga classes; and restorative downtime by Sopa’s infinity pool and spa.
From Nakuru, we’ll return to Nairobi for one night at the Movenpick Hotel before boarding a domestic flight to the magical island of Lamu on day 5.
Our home in Lamu is the beautiful Kijani Hotel, nestled on the beach and overlooking the Indian Ocean, with an open-air yoga studio in the culturally rich village of Shela. The pristine fishing island of Lamu, located on Kenya’s north coast in the Indian Ocean, is the first Swahili settlement in East Africa and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. To this day, there are no cars on the island — traditional dhow boats remain the common mode of transportation, adding to Lamu’s charm and authenticity.
The Lamu/Beach leg of our journey includes an all day excursion on a dhow boat with snorkeling, lunch and a lazy drift through a mangrove forest; a tour of historic Lamu Town; swims across the channel (for those dolphins among us!); spa treatments; sunset dhow tour; and shopping in Shela’s charming boutiques featuring artisan fabrics and art from Lamu, India, and the Middle East.
During our journey you will stay at 3 different venues. Below is a brief description of each. The rooms at the Mövenpick Hotel Nairobi and Sopa Lodge Lake Nakuru are beautiful standard rooms. At Kijani Hotel each room is unique with the majority of them having air conditioning and stunning views. The three open air flow design concept rooms are the original rooms of the property and overlook the sea.
Venue 1: Mövenpick Hotel Nairobi
Mövenpick Hotel Nairobi is a modern sanctuary in the vibrant Westlands district, offering spacious rooms, warm hospitality, and exceptional comfort. With just 11 beautifully furnished rooms, lush tropical gardens, and a freshwater pool shaded by swaying palms, the setting invites ease and rest. For the duration of our yoga retreat, the entire property will be reserved exclusively for our group — offering privacy, tranquility, and space to connect, restore, and explore together.
About Kenya
Kenya is a land of profound beauty and cultural depth—home to sweeping savannas, vibrant coastal islands, bustling urban centers, and some of the most diverse wildlife on Earth. As the birthplace of humankind and one of Africa’s most historically rich nations, Kenya offers visitors an unparalleled blend of nature, tradition, and warm hospitality. From modern Nairobi to the wildlife-filled Rift Valley and the ancient Swahili coast, each region tells a different part of Kenya’s story.
Why We Explore Three Regions
We designed this retreat to showcase Kenya’s remarkable diversity—its landscapes, traditions, and energies. Nairobi offers grounding, culture, and comfort as you arrive. The Rift Valley immerses you in nature, wildlife, and the deep ancestral soul of the land. Lamu brings peace, simplicity, and coastal magic with its timeless Swahili culture. Experiencing all three allows guests to feel Kenya’s full spectrum—urban vibrancy, wild serenity, and ocean-side tranquility—creating a transformative journey that mirrors the spirit of yoga itself.
