About this trip

Experience one of the most beloved holiday events in the Southeast, Nights of a Thousand Candles.

See Brookgreen Gardens come to life amid the soft glow of more than 2,700 hand-lit candles and millions of sparkling lights.

Brookgreen Gardens, America’s first sculpture garden consisting of four former colonial rice plantations, is located just 18 miles south of Myrtle Beach.  It is the floral jewel of South Carolina’s coastal community.   Named by Southeast Tourism Society as a Top 20 Event, Night of a Thousand Candles offers nights of holiday magic when visitors stroll through sculpture gardens lit by thousands of luminaries and twinkling lights while enjoying an  array of musical performances.

Scroll down to read about the trip inclusions and itinerary.  New this year!  You can also add the Sparkle & Fun package when you register for the trip.  This package includes a glass of wine (or cider) and a set of holographic glasses that will make the lights at Brookgreen Gardens even more festive.  The holographic glasses create a stunning visual effect, turning every light source into a mesmerizing display of color and sparkle. You will be amazed as you sip your wine and watch the gardens come alive with dazzling lights.

I love to travel so in my partially retired life I decided to adapt my passion for travel along with 25 years of experience in Travel & Tourism to create Trips by Patty. I received a BA in American History from UNC-Chapel Hill. Not knowing what I was going to do with that degree, I started working as a desk clerk at a hotel in Raleigh. I enjoyed the hotel business and the career path began. Hotel operations and sales, Convention Center operations and marketing, destination marketing with a Convention Visitors Bureau and even a stint as a tour guide. What happened to the history degree? Well, many times when I am escorting my trips I share the history of the destinations we visit. It's a great feeling to take your career skills and adapt them to your own small business. I love what I do and hope you'll join me on a trip one day!

Patty is very well organized. Plenty of info before the trip. Unexpected snacks and water on the bus was a nice perk. The list of lunch options allowed us some preplanning prior to getting to town. Great job Patty!👏

The trip was well organized, as usual. We had time for a nice lunch and the play was great - just not fantastic. That is not Patty's fault. I just didn't get "moved" by it. Thanks, Patty!!
