Meet your Omani guide at your Muscat hotel and travel inland by comfortable, mountain-ready 4x4.

Explore Nizwa Fort and its distinctive circular tower, then walk through the nearby souq, known for dates, pottery, silverwork and traditional Omani crafts.

Continue to Birkat Al Mouz for a short walk among mudbrick ruins, date plantations and traditional irrigation channels connected to Oman’s UNESCO-listed aflaj system.

Pass the mountain checkpoint and climb toward the Saiq Plateau, where limestone canyons and cultivated terraces shape the landscape.

Pause for lunch at a locally recommended restaurant or hotel. Lunch is paid directly unless included in the confirmed package.

Walk through selected mountain villages and agricultural terraces with views across the canyon. The route may include Al Aqur and Al Ayn, depending on access, weather and the group’s pace.

Stop at a panoramic viewpoint, including the area commonly known as Diana’s Point when accessible, before beginning the descent.

A 4x4 vehicle is required beyond the Jebel Akhdar checkpoint. Walking includes steps and uneven village paths. Comfortable, secure footwear is recommended. Mountain temperatures can be noticeably cooler than Muscat. A light layer is recommended, especially from autumn through spring. Rose blossoms and traditional rosewater distillation are seasonal and should not be promised outside the spring harvest period. Nizwa Fort currently operates Saturday through Thursday from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM, with a midday closure on Friday from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM. Timings and access may still change with holidays, traffic, weather and local conditions.
