WELCOME Alumni, Friends, and Family of the Norfolk State University Spartan Legion Marching Band to your amazing journey to Southern California and the 2023 Tournament of Roses Parade. What an honor this is for the band to be selected to march, and what a extraordinary opportunity for you to travel to see your band LIVE in Southern California! Congratulations to all of you again!


A fun-filled itinerary awaits you in Southern California for this granddaddy of all parades, The Tournament of Roses, and, you'll have a "front row" seat to the best festivities including access to band events only available on your official Alumni, Friends, and Family trip with the band.


First things first. So, who are you traveling with? 


Performing Arts Consultants (PAC) has taken the best bands to their BIGGEST events for nearly forty years, and we look forward to guiding you through (hopefully) sunny Southern California for parade week out West. We've taken many bands, their alumni, friends, and family to this parade, know it well, and we sincerely look forward to taking you!


Why travel on the PAC package with the band?


For starters, as many have before them, you Spartan Legion Marching Band is traveling to California with PAC unlocking many opportunities for a coordinated schedule, exclusive access, and economies of scale in pricing for you alongside the band. We know this parade and package it well. Enjoy events and opportunities alongside the band otherwise not available to those not traveling with us.


Your Alumni, Friends, and Family package includes all the items listed here, and is designed to provide each traveler with a good balance between time with the band and band related activities, and free time to explore the beautiful Southern California area on your own. 


We offer as the official band provider both an all inclusive FIVE NIGHT trip (Dec 28-Jan 3) as well as an abbreviated THREE NIGHT trip (Dec 30-Jan 3) available for you to choose from. Additional nights are also available as option. Please read about the inclusions of each trip CAREFULLY before you decide which trip is best for you!


Yes, the band will be staying with PAC at a different hotel and will be scheduling some events without you (by design), but you'll see them a lot with our five night itinerary and we'll all have a wonderful time together regardless of which package you choose.


We're sorry, individual event tickets are not available outside of our packages.


As highlight of the five night itinerary, PAC will take you to the Parade (including great grandstand seats on the TV turn!), Bandfest, the Rose Parade Float Barn experience "Decorating Spaces", a Newport Beach Dinner Cruise with the band, Disneyland (with the band), Universal Studios Hollywood (with the band), and for a grand farewell dinner also (you guessed it) with the band scheduled for our last night in California together. Yet, there will still be ample time and opportunity for you to enjoy Southern California and your beautiful Hilton Waterfront Resort Hotel on the Beach on your own. Additional nights at the Hilton before and after the official trip are also available to you.

Whereas the pricing for the hotel, bus, and many of the venues are the same regardless of age with our group pricing, please let us know if someone in your party is under six years old for a possible reduction in fare.

Your Rose Parade Bleacher Seats

Great news! You'll have some of the best seats in the house!


We have secured prime bleacher seats for parade viewing along Colorado Boulevard and the "TV turn" for you as well as proximity parking for your buses. These are some of the best seats available for this parade!


Available "first come first served" these seats are currently included with both Alumni, Friends, and Family packages for the parade. The bands always play along this stretch of the route and represent the best opportunity for viewing the parade.


If demand is greater than our ticket supply (we are expecting 300 or so friends and family travelers), PAC will take refundable deposits for additional seats in these grandstands and reduce the package price accordingly. Please, book early to secure your VIP ticket! At a certain point they just won't be available any more.

Airfare/Traveling to Southern California

Depart for California on your choice of airlines from your choice of airport. With the variety of individual travel needs, group airfare is NOT being provided for this trip but, that's ok. You're in control of your own flights and schedule.


You can book your airfare on a variety of travel sites such as Southwest.com, Travelocity, Kayak, or similar. Come to California a day or two early if you would like, or stay a day or two later. We'll have additional hotel nights available for you!


The closest airports to your Southern California Huntington Beach hotel are the John Wayne/Orange County Airport (SNA), or the Long Beach Airport (LGB) (but are usually a little more expensive). You can also fly to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) but be mindful of the transportation distance (37 miles) and transportation/Uber/shuttle cost to the hotel! 


You MIGHT choose to rent a car for your stay as in addition to providing your airport transportation (offsetting some of the car cost), it's also a great supplement to our event bus transportation for your Southern California "free time" for off-site meals and additional sightseeing and might give you the most transport flexibility


PAC representatives are available to assist you in finding air options, if you would like. Just ask!

Booking WIth a Roomate?

You can "split" a room with a friend traveling with you, but paying separately. For example with two of you splitting a room, YOU would select "One Travelers" and "Double Room" effectively reserving half that room, but 100% of the events (Parade, Disneyland, Dinner Cruise, etc). When asked, enter the name and email of your roommate so that we can match you up later. The same can be done with triple and quad rooms as well.


If you are requesting an additional night for the trip as an option to come early or stay later, note that the pricing for each additional night is PER ROOM not per person. Only one of you need to select the additional night in your booking and pay for it. Your roommate will then compensate YOU for their portion, as appropriate.


Please note though that if your roommate backs out, YOU will be responsible for the unpaid portion of the room (will revert to single room pricing, as example.).

Cancellation Policy

CANCELLATION POLICY In consideration of non-refundable payments made by Performing Arts Consultants to tour operators, land operators, airlines and other agents associated with travel and/or festival arrangements, accommodations and/or services, the following will apply: 


 ✓ 45-31 DAYS PRIOR TO DEPARTURE – a $100.00 per person cancellation fee PLUS any cancellation charges and non-refundable payments levied by the various vendors mentioned above  (including to the hotel, charter air company, theme parks, and entertainment/dining venues).  


✓ 30 DAYS OR LESS DAYS PRIOR TO DEPARTURE – Absolutely NO refunds will be granted PAYMENT POLICY Upon receipt of your invoice, please mark the payment dates on your calendar to maintain a punctual payment schedule.


As your trip to the Rose Parade is a very special event, your initial $75.00 deposit is non-refundable, but will only be charged once if you cancel.

Trip Insurance

Trip insurance is optional, but you MIGHT want to consider Trip Insurance to protect your investment in both airfare and lodging, etc, for your Rose Parade experience.


PAC in not a licensed insurance agent and Alumni, Friends and Family are not eligible for the same insurance plans as are those on the student trip. We do however recommend the Retail Insurance products at Travel Insured (travelinsured.com). Visit their website, or any travel insurance company of your choosing, to find the plan best for you!

Note, this itinerary reflects the full FIVE NIGHT trip to the parade. Our Three Night Trip begins on Saturday!


Thursday, December 29:  Depart for Southern California on your choice of airlines to the airports of Orange County, Long Beach, or Los Angeles. Find your best airfare at a variety of travel sites such as Southwest.com, Travelocity, Kayak, or similar. As reminder, airfare is NOT included in our packages and will need to be purchased individually by you.


Welcome to Southern California and the beautiful Hilton Waterfront Beach Resort in Huntington Beach.  HOTEL PHOTOS/VIDEO HERE


Share a ride from the airport with other “friends and family” or rent a car for the ultimate vacation freedom (not included) and check-in to the beautiful Hilton Waterfront Beach Hotel in Huntington Beach! 


The closest airports to Huntington Beach are Orange County/John Wayne Airport (SNA) (but usually the most expensive), and Long Beach (LGB). LAX (Los Angeles International Airport) is a popular choice but be mindful of the transportation distance (and cost) to the hotel! LAX to the Hilton is 38 miles by Uber, Lyft, or Taxi. Again, you MIGHT choose to rent a car for your stay!


Your afternoon/evening is free for a relaxing lunch and dinner at the hotel or nearby along the beach. Step out on to the beach and enjoy the Pacific Ocean just steps from your hotel at sunset or just enjoy this beautiful hotel from the restaurant and lounge.
