Northern Chronicles: From Ancient Kingdoms to Living Memory is a carefully curated small-group journey through Northern Sri Lanka and its connected landscapes, tracing how history is lived, remembered, and renewed.

Moving between ancient centres such as Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa, and Sigiriya, and the towns, and villages of the Jaffna Peninsula, the journey explores a region shaped by early kingdoms, Indian Ocean trade, sacred geographies, colonial encounter, and the long aftermath of war.

Experiences unfold at a considered pace and include temple rituals at enduring sites of worship, archaeological walks and sketching sessions among ruins, quiet picnics by lakes and reservoirs, and shared meals that introduce northern culinary traditions. Alongside monuments and landscapes, guests encounter everyday life—conversations with communities rebuilding after conflict, observing how memory, resilience, and continuity are carried forward through ritual, craft, and shared spaces.

The journey turns southward, tracing historical routes that link the northern peninsula with the island’s ancient capitals, with a stop at the iconic Anuradhapura. 

Engagement with royal landscapes of Sigiriya, monumental art, and hydraulic systems that shaped ancient aesthetic expression. Experiences include sunrise hike up the rock fortress, and guided exploration of surrounding areas.

The day is centred on the medieval capital of Polonnaruwa, once an outpost of the Chola kingdom where urban planning, monastic architecture fusing Hinduism and Buddhism, and hydraulic engineering reflect a mature phase of island civilisation.

Head back North through lyrical landscapes with photo stops at scenic lakes. Explore Jaffna markets for a round of shopping. Farewell dinner with reflections.
