Our team has prepared a yoga program specifically suited to the retreat environment.

Phil, the co-founder of American Yogi,  is a hot vinyasa trained instructor who has taught both in the US and internationally over the past few years. His classes are a heavily rooted in breath, tuning into your own rhythm, and meeting you exactly where you are. As Phil says, he specializes in “teaching yoga for people who don’t do yoga.” Whether it’s your first time on the mat or your thousandth, we’re sure you’ll find a place in Phil’s all-levels classes. After each class you may choose to lay in the room for another hour or two, take a dip in the pool downstairs, or sit and journal as post-savasana vibes hang in the air. Phil will be instructing yoga and meditation each morning throughout the retreat.

Andy, American Yogi Retreat’s co-facilitator, will be leading yin and yoga nidra style classes nightly throughout the retreat. Andy is an absolutely magnetic human who has spent years coaching, teaching, and helping others heal. He understands yoga for all of it’s limbs and teaches the practice from a place that only someone who’s tasted both the darkness and the light can access. His evening classes are sure to bring you down to earth after a day in the sand and sun, and pranayama/breath work will help you access even deeper levels of healing. Andy currently leads classes in both Guatemala and Mexico.  

The balance between each carefully crafted class will leave your heart open and body at ease. The open air practice space in Costa Rica is magical. Beams of light swimming in from between the clouds, birds chirping, waves lapping, and tangible energy from the land and those around you will leave you blissed for days.

Drop in and tune out in a distraction free setting that will help you connect to your practice like never before.

Retreat participants can also request complimentary private yoga or meditation instruction with either teacher throughout the retreat.

Though the focus of our stay in Costa Rica is our yoga practice on and off of the mat, one can't come to Nosara without trying to surf.  If you are a surf enthusiast then you will be relieved to know that this village has a wave machine located in front of it. 

You’ll receive instruction from local surf instructors who know the waves best, and all equipment will be ready and waiting for you. Our goal is to make sure everyone catches waves, smiles, and stays safe in the process.  Optional classes will offer various levels of lessons depending on where you are in your surfing journey.  If it's the first time then there is no better place to learn.

Throughout the week, you’ll be participating in several ceremonies to enhance your experience and practice in Costa Rica. Here you’ll enjoy a cacao ceremony, floral bath, temezcal (sweat lodge), and fire ceremony. Each event is designed to deepen your spiritual practice, strengthen the connection to your soul, purify and seal your intentions throughout the week. Don’t worry if you’ve never experienced them before, we’re sure you’ll fit right in!

Our home for the week is located in Nosara, Costa Rica-- a quiet surf town known for its year round, world class surf breaks. Nosara has also become one of the largest yoga destinations in Costa Rica.

Our retreat space is comprised of villas nested on top of a quiet ridge in Playa Pelada with incredible ocean views. The secluded and intimate space is the perfect retreat location. You’ll feel like you are nestled into a cocoon of good energy, peaceful vibes, ocean breezes, and the sounds of nature, all while remaining just a short walk to the beach. This exclusive space in the jungle allows you to immerse yourself into nature and enjoy the magic of the Pacific Ocean with ample opportunities to reflect and unwind.

The rooms listed below are a mix of private and shared rooms with slightly different rooms and amenities, but the same incredible retreat experience. Whether you’re traveling solo or with a partner, we’re sure there’s a space to suit your needs.

 RETREAT CANCELLATIONS It is your responsibility to read and understand our cancellation policy before making a reservation. Naturally, no one books with the intention of canceling or postponing their retreat, but unexpected things do happen, so PLEASE PURCHASE TRAVEL
