Today we will get to know the city of Halifax and explore some of the history of this city. We will visit the Halifax Citadel.  The Citadel is the fortified summit of Citadel Hill. The hill was first fortified in 1749, the year that Edward Cornwallis oversaw the development of the town of Halifax. Those fortifications were successively rebuilt to defend the town from various enemies. We will also visit the Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic and learn about the deep history of fisheries in the area. Enjoy breakfast at the hotel. We will have lunch together in Halifax and then this evening enjoy a nice dinner together on the Halifax waterfront. (B, L, D)

Today, after breakfast at the hotel, we will head for a day of exploring. We will visit Lunenburg and Peggy's Cove learning about the history of the area and enjoying the incredibly well maintained buildings from more than 200 years ago. We will take a short walking tour of both villages and enjoy lunch and dinner among the locals of these beautiful and historically important areas. We will also take some time to visit the village of Blue Rocks and the most photographed lighthouse in the world. This will be a great day. (B, L, D)

Today, after a leisurely breakfast at the hotel, we will depart Halifax for Prince Edward Island and the small city of Charlottetown. On the way we will stop at the Millbrook Cultural and Heritage Center. After we enjoy that stop, we will have a nice lunch and continue on our journey to Charlottetown crossing the Confederation Bridge a world engineering feat. It connects Prince Edward Island to the mainland over the Northumberland Strait in the southern part of the Gulf of Saint Lawrence. At 8 miles long it is longest bridge in the world over ice-covered waters. This afternoon we will check into our hotel in Charlottetown and the remainder of the afternoon will be free to explore the area and have dinner on your own. (B, L)

This morning after breakfast, we will head to the iconic Anne of Green Gables museum.  Written for all ages, the Anne of Green Gables has been considered a classic children's novel since the mid-20th century. Set in the late 19th century, the novel recounts the adventures of 11 year old orphan girl Anne Shirley sent by mistake to two middle-aged siblings, Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert, who had originally intended to adopt a boy to help them on their farm in the fictional town of Avonlea in Prince Edward Island, Canada. Once we have taken in the museum and house, we will head back to Charlottetown for a walking tour of the capital of Prince Edward Island. This evening, we will have dinner together at a local restaurant. (B, L, D) 

Today we will leave Charlottetown and head for Port Hawkesberry and more adventure and exploration. We will take a ferry across the Northcumberland Strait between Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia. Once we are back to Nova Scotia. Once back to Nova Scotia, we will make our way to  Baile nan Gaidheal Highland Village a living history museum and folklife centre that celebrates the story, language and living culture of Nova Scotia Gaels. This beautiful Scottish farming community will be the main portion of our afternoon. Before we head to our hotel in Port Hawkesberry, we will stop for an early dinner at a great pub and restaurant, then the remainder of the evening will be free.

After an earlier breakfast at the hotel, we will leave for a day of exploring the beauty of Cape Breton and the Cabot Trail. First we will stop at the Alexander Graham Bell estate and museum and enjoy learning about and seeing some of the inventions this incredible man developed. We will stop for lunch in the seaside village of Ignonish and then continue on our way along the Cabot Trail enjoying the vistas and breathtaking views of what is considered one of the most beautiful road trips in the world. After stopping in the cute town of Cheticamp, we will return to our hotel and enjoy a nice dinner together.

After breakfast at the hotel, we will board the coach for a trip to the Louisburg Fortress National Historic site. Along the way we will enjoy the views as we follow the Bras D'Or Lake. Once we reach Louisburg Fortress, we will explore the grounds and enjoy lunch at the on-site restaurant. Louisburg Fortress is a National Historic Site and the location of a one-quarter partial reconstruction of an 18th-century French Fortress. Its two sieges, especially that of 1758, were turning points in the Anglo-French struggle for what today is Canada. After exploring the historic site, we will begin making our way back to Halifax. Along the way we will stop for dinner and enjoy one last evening together before we depart for home tomorrow!

This morning we will head to the Halifax airport and make our way home full of memories of a trip to one of the most beautiful places Canada and world have to offer.
