We are so excited to return to Shobac, our favorite little architectural village by the sea. There is no other place like it on earth, it is truly spectacular and has continued to call us back year after year. The Shobac property was designed by internationally celebrated architect Brian MacKay-Lyons. The compound is surrounded by undulating pastures strewn with wild flowers where sheep and cattle graze. Fertile and sensuous hills that were made by retreating glaciers embrace the property. Waves crash dramatically against the nearby Gaff Point cliffs, and sandy beaches mark the oceans edge. This place is rich with natural beauty and ripe with inspiration. Because of this we always invite an artist to be a part of the retreat. This year we are bringing along NYC based floral designer, Marisa Competello of Meta Flora, to teach a workshop on local foraging and flower arranging. There will be two yoga classes a day, lead by Kumi Sawyers, that will include meditation, contemplation and pranayama. Chef extraordinaire, Lauren Gerrie, will awaken our senses with curated meals that reflect the seasonal bounty of Nova Scotia. 

The idea of ritual roots us in our practice to come together and indulge communally. Our goal is to challenge the normalcy and repetition of our daily lives that we all fall victim to. Instead, we intend to inspire you with new ingredients, techniques, rituals, and flavor combinations that will leave your mind, body, and soul truly nourished. Igniting a passion for movement, food and creativity, that can be used as a  tool to apply focus and intention into your daily life. We hope you can join us!

THE EMBODIMENT RETREAT: AT SHOBAC FARM & SPA in Kingsburg, Nova Scotia

Kumi, Lauren and team created and hosted one of the best weeks in my memory. The yoga and assists felt incredible - all so accessible and equally rooted in Kumi's deep wisdom. Lauren's meals are thoughtful, nourishing and more delicious than anything I remember eating. The warm ease with which Kumi, Lauren and team hosted us all, set the perfect tone for a week of connection and rest. Truthfully, this week was more healing in ways I didn't even know that I needed. Can't recommend a trip with Kumi & Lauren more. I hope to do it again one day. Magic.

Artist Workshop

Shobac is ideally situated for easy access to urban and rural amenities. The historic towns of Lunenburg, Chester, Bridgewater and Mahone Bay are nearby. Lunenburg, just 15 kilometres away, is a UNESCO World Heritage site. More great beaches like Rissers Beach and Crescent Beach are located across the LaHave River via a short car ferry. For the adventurous, Nova Scotia has plenty of good surf spots and the nearby LaHave Islands and Bluerocks/Stonehurst offer some of the best sea-kayaking in Canada. The historic drive up the beautiful LaHave River takes you from the open ocean at Shobac in Kingsburg to the rolling farmlands of New Germany in the center of Nova Scotia.

Fly into Halifax Stanfield International Airport. The drive to the property is approximately 90 minutes. We recommend renting a car so you have freedom to explore Nova Scotia (we will connect everyone via email for those interested in rental car shares). There are also taxi services available for transportation. Check in at the property is 3pm on Saturday 8/26 and check out is 10am on Saturday 9/2

Getting There

Deposits secure your spot on the trip and are not refundable. Refunds for the balance payments vary depending on timing. For cancellation requests submitted with more than 30 days of retreat date: 100% of total amount (less deposit) will be refunded. For cancellation requests submitted within 30 days of retreat date, 50% of total amount (less deposit) will be refunded. Cancellation requests within 14 days of the retreat: sorry but no refunds given, no exceptions. Nobody books a retreat with the intention of canceling, but unexpected events do occur, so please consider purchasing travel insurance. Exceptions cannot be made for any reason, including weather, injury/illness, or personal emergencies. No refunds or credits will be granted for failure to attend, &nbsp;or for arriving late or leaving early.

Sample Schedule

These rooms are the entire second level of one of the four cottages on the property. The open loft features a double bed with a full ensuite bathroom and a private deck that over looks the sheep pasture with stunning architectural views. Each cottage has a newly renovated kitchen, a living area with chic contemporary furniture, a wood stove and a deck that is perfect for relaxing, musing, day dreaming and enjoying the seaside air. Perfect for staying solo or sharing with a partner or close friend. * Price is per person. If you are sharing with someone please specify so we know to put you together.&nbsp;

Single Room with ensuite bathroom

These rooms are on the main level of one of the four cottages on the property. The room has two twin beds and there is a full bathroom just down the hall to be shared only with your roommate. Each cottage has a newly renovated kitchen, a living area with chic contemporary furniture, a wood stove and a deck that is perfect for relaxing, musing, day dreaming and enjoying the seaside air. Double Room with a shared bathroom

The Gate House is perfect for a couple or friends who want extra privacy. This unique two story dwelling features two queen beds and a full bathroom upstairs. And a living area with a wood stove and full kitchen downstairs. The house has two patios that offer different views of the property and an outside fire pit. *Price is per person
