We Travel up into the cascade Mountains and Wenatchee national forest to the mountain town of Leavenworth. Re-created as a Bavarian village on the shore of the Wenatchee River, Leavenworth is one of the northwest's most popular destinations. Will take a walk along the river, perhaps visit one of the worlds only nutcracker museums, and have time to enjoy the village. 

Today we travel east to the region of Washington state that is carved by the massive Columbia River. The influence of the river and a giant Ice Age glacier created the 50-mile-long Lake Chelan. The abundant sunshine and cool breeze coming from the lake created one of Washington's premier winegrowing regions. Planted on the hillside above the lake, and the wine, paired with the vistas, makes for a beautiful experience. We’ll visit two wineries and enjoy some culinary treats. We will return to Leavenworth to enjoy an evening back in little Bavaria.

This evening we will find ourselves in a local Beer garden where we can enjoy a bratwurst and a cold local ale to chase it down. Overnight at the Bavarian Lodge or similar

This day begins with an early morning departure. We will travel north to thecoastal town of Anacortes to board a Washington state ferry. The scenic ferryride will take us through the San Juan Islands to the town of Friday Harbor onSan Juan Island. This delightful harbor town is filled with shops, galleries andhome to the only museum devoted to Orca whales and the Center for WhaleResearch. We will have time to explore and enjoy lunch on your own at one ofthe dozens of restaurants available. Of course, seafood is the local specialty. We board the ferry for our return trip to Anacortes, and from there travel toBellingham.
