Hi, weâre Jennie and Mariana, two women brought together by fate, food, and a love for Oaxaca. Four years ago, a mutual friend introduced these two women and a soul connection was formed. Now, weâre co-creating something weâve both dreamed of: a retreat built on culture, community, and growth.
Mariana is a proud Mexicana, Spanish teacher, and mother with a heart for connection. Sheâs spent years helping others experience Mexico through language and cultural exchange. She believes in the magic of slowing down, sharing stories over a good meal, and the beauty of showing up exactly as you are. Hosting this retreat is an extension of her deep love for Oaxaca and her desire to share it with women in a way that feels intentional, joyful, and personal.
Jennie is a travel content creator, writer, and storyteller who first came to Oaxaca looking for something and ended up finding everything. Itâs the city where she got sober, started healing, and began writing a new chapter of her life. She brings hype girl encouragement and grounding vibes to everything she does. Her own journey has been about learning to balance the thrill of adventure, hiking volcanoes, chasing sunrises, saying yes to the unknown with the art of slowing down. For her, healing happens just as much in a quiet courtyard with a journal as it does on a mountaintop. This retreat is about creating space for both: the movement and the stillness, the laughter and the reflection.
Together, weâre inviting you into a space that honors connection, curiosity, creativity, and culture. A place to be held, to be heard, and to feel alive.
We canât wait to meet you in Oaxaca!
How Do I Get There?
Fly into Oaxaca International Airport (OAX). Please contact me once you've booked your flight, so I can coordinate your private arrival and departure transfer. Feel free to reach out if you need help booking your flight.
Do I Need a Visa to Enter Mexico?
If youâre traveling from the United States, Canada, most EU countries, the UK, or Australia, you do not need a visa to enter Mexico for stays under 180 days.Y ouâll just need a valid passport with at least 6 months before expiration and a completed immigration form (sometimes handed out on the plane or available electronically). If you're unsure about your countryâs entry requirements, feel free to reach out and Iâll help you check!
What is the Accommodation Like?
Weâll be staying in a beautiful shared Airbnb with a mix of private and shared rooms. Youâll be paired with a roommate based on your application responses.
Is This Trip Sober Only?
Not at allâbut it is sober-friendly. This means youâll be in a supportive environment where drinking is completely optional and never expected. There wonât be alcohol at the house or during group activitiesâbut if youâd like to enjoy a glass of wine or a cocktail with dinner, thatâs totally fine.
That said, this isnât a party tripâso no sloppy drunk nights or hair-holding mornings here. Weâre all about presence, connection, and feeling good (without the hangovers). Whether youâre sober, sober-curious, or just craving more mindful travel, youâre welcome exactly as you are.
Do I Need to Speak Spanish?
No, but learning a few basic phrases is always helpful!
Are There Fitness Requirements For This Trip?
While the activity level for this trip is moderate, we ask that travelers with pre-existing medical conditions get clearance from their health professionals to travel.
Can I Come Alone?
Absolutely! Many participants join solo. Youâll be matched with a roommate unless you sign up with a friend or opt for a private room (if available).
Can I Bring a Friend?
Yes! Thereâs a bring-a-friend discount for each person who books together.
What Should I Pack?
A detailed packing list will be sent closer to departure, but comfortable walking shoes, layers for warm days and cooler nights, swimwear, and a small backpack are recommended.
Do I need travel insurance?
Yes! All participants must have travel insurance to cover medical emergencies, trip cancellations, and other unforeseen events. If you do not have coverage via your credit card, you can purchase it separately.
How Much Spending Money Should I Budget?
Most meals, activities, and transport are includedâso you wonât need much for the day-to-day. But we do recommend bringing extra cash or budgeting for things like:
Everyoneâs travel style is different, but budgeting around $150â$300 USD for the week should be plenty for most travelers. ATMs are available in Oaxaca, and many places take cards but having some pesos on hand is always helpful!
Should I Exchange Money Before I Arrive in Mexico?
You can but it's not required. The easiest and most cost-effective way to get pesos is usually by withdrawing from a local ATM once you arrive in Oaxaca. ATMs are available at the airport and in town, and they typically offer better exchange rates than currency booths.
Just make sure to:
Credit cards are accepted in many restaurants and shops, but cash is still preferred for markets, tips, and smaller vendorsâso itâs a good idea to keep some pesos with you throughout the trip.
