Come with our Travel Club to the Buckeye State, home to the second largest Amish community in the world, Ohio Amish Country! Take in the beautiful scenery, enjoy delicious food, shop at local stores with handmade goods, learn about the Amish and see a performance of Ruth at the Ohio Star Theater.
· The cancellation date for this tour is April 24, 2024, which is the last day to cancel and receive a refund from Capitol Tours. Travel Insurance is available upon request to help protect your investment, subject to eligibility criteria.

Tuesday, June 18
7:00am Gather with your fellow travelers at Capitol Tours office in West Columbia to prepare for departure at 7:30am. There will be a stop along the way for lunch on your own.
5:15pm Estimated arrival at the Blennerhassett Hotel for check-in.
6:15pm This evening you will have a delicious dinner at the hotel.
8:30pm Return to the hotel for the evening.
Wednesday, June 19 – A hot breakfast is included at the hotel
8:45am Depart from the hotel and travel north for the first of our Amish experiences.
11:00am Arrive at the Ernest Warther Museum in Dover, OH. Take a guided tour of the masterful creations by Mooney Warther and the button collection by Mrs. Warther. A soup and sandwich lunch are included at the museum.
2:00pm Depart from the museum and travel to Walnut Creek to pick-up our guide and continue on the back roads to Land and Light Candle for a demonstration on carved candles.
3:45pm Continue to the Berlin Grande Hotel for check-in. Take a little time to freshen up before tonight’s dinner and entertainment.
5:00pm Travel to the Dutch Valley Inn for a delicious buffet meal.
6:30pm After dinner, walk across the parking lot to the Ohio Star Theater for this evening performance of “Ruth” an original Sight and Sound production.
7:00pm The show begins!
8:30pm At the conclusion of the show, please return to the motorcoach and travel back to the hotel.
Thursday, June 20 – A country breakfast is included at the hotel
8:30am Meet your guide for the day and continue to the Behalt Amish & Mennonite Information Center where you will learn about the local culture.
10:00am Continue to Troyer’s Sweet Shoppe offering all kinds of chocolate nut clusters, fudge and crunchy butter puffs. You can even try your hand at dipping buckeye candies.
11:30am Next stop is the Lighted Lantern to have lunch on your own. At their inhouse bakery, fill your own whoopie pie cookies.
1:45pm Depart to the Hometown Merchants which is a locally owner variety store. The store is known as the Amish Walmart!
3:15pm Return to the hotel to relax for a while, or shop at some of the nearby shops.
5:30pm Depart from the hotel and travel to a lovely Amish home for a delicious family style feast. Enjoy the fellowship as you learn about Amish life.
7:30pm Return to the hotel for the evening.
Friday, June 21 - A country breakfast is included at the hotel
7:30am Have your bags packed and ready for pick-up outside your room.
8:30am Meet your guide for the morning and continue to Herschberger Bakery & Farmers Market. The bakery is the largest family-owned Amish bakery. You will find a full line of baked goods and locally grown produce. Walk through the petting zoo and pet Big King, the largest registered Belgium horse in Ohio. If you are interested in a buggy ride (separate cost) this can be arranged here.
9:30am Time to continue to the Farm at Walnut Creek. Take a one-hour horse drawn wagon ride through their farm to feed over 400 exotic animals. After the wagon ride, visit the farmhouse for some fresh baked cookies.
11:45am Continue to Walnut Creek Cheese, the largest bulk food store in the area. Have lunch on your own, then enjoy an included ice cream cone.
1:30pm Our last stop in Ohio Amish Country is the Walnut Creek Flea Market where you can find all sorts of local foods and crafts in the over 100 booths.
3:15pm Board the coach and travel to Parkersburg, WV.
5:30pm Arrive at the historic Blennerhassett Hotel.
6:00pm Dinner is included at the hotel.
Saturday, June 22 – Breakfast buffet is included at the hotel
9:00am time to board the bus for the drive back to South Carolina. There will be a stop along the way for lunch on your own.
6:30pm Estimated arrival at Capitol Tours.
