“Do your work without attachment and with being balanced in success or failure.” Bhagavad-Gita. Balance is called Yoga. Yin balances Yang. Today, most of us live an overt yang lifestyle. Even yoga postures practiced are predominantly yang in nature. We need both the yin and yang aspects in our life, however, the yin approach is lacking. Hence, to achieve balance we need to introduce more of the yin aspect in our lifestyle.
Yin Yoga targets the connective tissues (ligaments, joint capsules, bones, etc) of the body as opposed to the yang practices which target the yang tissues (muscular tissues). Yin relaxes both the body and in turn, the mind. Moreover, it helps avoid injuries, soothes and coordinates the nervous system. This would bring better overall physical flexibility and better overall mental health.
