About this trip

The Valdés Peninsula is located in the province of Chubut, Argentine Patagonia, a place recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1999. This is a photographic expedition with a well-defined purpose: to see and photograph Orcas, preferably in a hunting attitude, practicing "varamiento", a technique that they developed to feed themselves and that only occurs in the Valdés Peninsula, Argentine Patagonia. During the expedition we will be immersed within the Peninsula for five days, following the tide, looking for the possibility of seeing the Orcas doing the diving, which can be at different times of the day. We will also take advantage of the time and see all the other species that are in the region, a show of fauna and land and sea birds.

Expedition Highlights

 - Sighting of orcas from land (observation of the "varamiento" technique, carried out only in this region by a specific group of orcas)

- Hiking in places full of fossils

- Visit to loberias and penguins (there are few penguins at this time, but we still find some)

- Observation of terrestrial mammals and different species of birds, including pelagic ones

- Recognition of landscapes and Patagonian night sky

- Detailed organization following the "Slow Travel" concept

- Coordination and daily monitoring by a nature and wildlife photographer
