Wakax Hacienda welcomes yogis in search of complete disconnection from the hectic lifestyle of our times and those who seek a genuine encounter with nature and their inner selves. ‍ This amazing property is a classic architectural gem, built as a modern homage to the traditional XVIII century colonial style of the Yucatán Haciendas. ‍ 

A perfect balance between luxury, comfort, pristine nature and Maya traditions makes this 400 acres of property a unique paradise where exceptional service, outstanding amenities, exquisite gastronomy, and remarkable activities fascinate everyone who visits it. 

The yoga classes will be a balanced blend of Mysore practice and Ashtanga-specific workshops. We’ll begin each morning with cleansing breath-work and a Mysore class and have an afternoon workshop to go deeper into the foundations of the Ashtanga yoga practice. We will close our evenings with a group discussion incorporating yoga philosophical wisdom. 

Each day will have a lesson in the form of a living experience inspired by the four elements:

Water. The Flow in life

Air. The willingness to listen

Earth. Active grounding

Fire. Temazcal New Fire

By the end of the week, you will have a greater grounding in all aspects of Ashtanga and leave the retreat recharged & maintaining the gift of yoga.

Laruga is one of the most senior Ashtanga teachers in the world with a Level 2 Certification and a charismatic teacher who share her yogic knowledge and ethos off & beyond the mat.

She has been practicing Ashtanga yoga continuously for over 24 years. Starting in the beginning of her 20s, she was immediately drawn to the practice after working with other forms of yoga years prior. After establishing a committed practice she then deepened her studies traveling to Mysore, India annually to practice at KPJAYI where the late Sri K. Pattabhi Jois taught and now his grandson, R. Sharath Jois teaches.

Laruga has made more than 14 trips to Mysore and is on a mission to continue to learn and grow as a student as well as a teacher. She is one of the few in the world who have been given the distinction of being certified to teach up to Advanced B, which is not easily given and takes many years to earn. Through it all, Laruga teaches as an act of deep sharing and love for what yoga develops in each individual, facilitating space to open, challenge, and inspire those to realize their inherent potential, and has been personally invited all over the world to do so.

If you should need to cancel prior to the 21st of August, you will not be responsible for the remainder of your payment. 

COVID-19 PRECAUTIONS 

We understand that this is a sensitive time in the world and we will make an exception to the cancellation policy below for anyone who tests positive for COVID-19. A doctor’s note or proof of a positive test must be provided to receive a full payment refund before the start date of the retreat.

The safety of our retreaters, team, and venue partners is of the utmost importance to us; below are the precautions we are taking: 

• Yoga & Safety: The yoga takes place in an outdoor covered yoga shala which is sunlight & easily aired. Each guest will be provided with a yoga mat which they will keep for the duration of the retreat and be responsible for its cleaning.
• Pre and Post-Departure: we will have testing provided on-site so that you will have the proper documentation ready for your return flight back home.
