About this trip

Enchanted Expeditions did an outstanding job of booking hotels and coordinating my recent trip to Guayaquil. This was my first time booking through them. Although I have traveled through Ecuador hundreds of times before, often leading Expeditions, I had never been provided with such professional and efficient services. 

Hotel accommodation in Guayaquil

We had a great time. We were very lucky to hit a low season and we were the only people at the lodge. Everyone treated us very well. The chef prepared wonderful meals. The lodge had prepared a program for us but were flexible in changing this after we got there as we had visited one of the places they had planned to take us. 

The rooms were a good size and very comfortable. The bathroom could have done with some minor work.

Geckos and Galapagos centipedes came were included in the room rate!

  I had a great time. The accomodations were very comfortable and the excursions and activities were lots of fun - particularly the chocolate making!  The food was fantastic and chef Guidofranco prepared some wonderful surprises!

This was our long anticipated, bucket-list trip.  The experience on Cachalote Explorer was everything we expected and more.  Traveling on a small boat with just 15 guests was the perfect way to explore the Galapagos.  The boat was clean and comfortable, the crew was welcoming and fun, and our guide, Darwin, was fabulous.  For us, this was the best possible way to visit the Galapagos.  I highly recommend Enchanted Expeditions and the Cachalote Explorer.

Our transfer from the ferry landing at Itsabaca canal to the Enchanted Galapagos Lodge was really great.  The driver was on time, the vehicle was clean and comfortable; I can highly recommend this transfer service.

What a hidden gem! My boyfriend and I stayed here for about 5 days over New Years and it was the most incredible place. If you are visiting The Galapagos and staying on land, you know you will be on the coast and in the water 90% of your time there. By staying at this hotel, we were not only able to see the highlands but truly experience it! 

The hotel is essentially a plantation. They grow their own pineapples, bananas and cacaos as well as make their own cheese and yogurt! This meant that every morning we had an amazing and delicious breakfast to energize our days (along with eggs, avocado, bread and anything else we wanted!). On days we had a super early start (and/or were running late), Marcia put our breakfast and coffees in to-go containers so we could eat on the way down to Puerto Ayora (Which is only about a 20 minute drive at $10-15 per ride).

The room and property was immaculate - they clean and maintain every day and you'll see landscapers tidying up the trees and landscaping every morning. You will see some little (very slow moving) millipedes and cute little geckos, but for being so embedded in the highlands, we expected MUCH more critters, but that was it! The room was perfect. We woke up to dewy windows as the sun rose and had refreshing warm showers at the end of each highly active day. There is a beautiful pool and trails around the property which unfortunately we weren't able to use due to our busy schedule but could easily have spent an entire day just hanging out up there.

At the end of every day, we would sit in the lodge where there would be music playing drinking wine and ironing out the details of the following day.

Now, I could go on and on about Marcia - the hotel manager (and new friend!). If it weren't for her, our stay not only at the hotel but on the islands every day would have been so much more stressful. Every day, she coordinated a taxi for us (the same driver, Marco - who we loved!) to and from wherever our excursions took off from. She communicated regularly via Whatsapp to make sure we were okay and finding our way around. She coordinated amazing, fine dining dinners with the chef and even got us some Coke Zero from the shop for our stay and made me a delicious sandwich when the chef wasn't on the property. 

I can't speak highly enough about this hotel, Marcia, Mario and the entire Enchanted Galapagos Lodge family and I can only hope we visit The Galapagos again and get to stay at this amazing place. 

Book it now before word gets out about this place - trust me!

CACHALOTE EXPLORER MAY 19-24/2023

We had a great time on this trip.  The environment was intimate enough to get to know the other passengers pretty well and they were all very interesting.  The boat and accommodations were comfortable and the food was great.  Most of all our guide was superb and so knowledgeable.  And a bonus was meeting and getting to know the owners of Enchanted Expeditions who joined us for the second half of our trip.

Our only small disappointment was that there was absolutely no internet available while cruising. We were prepared for it to be limited-perhaps to a few stops along the way.  But there was none and that was a bit stressful because we were unable to even check-in with clients and other stakeholders for the entire week (until we arrived at the lodge).

By the way the lodge stay although short was lovely as well.  It is a beautiful property and the town nearby included several lovely galleries and dining choices.

We will happily tell others that we know that Enchanted is a great choice for seeing this part of the Galapagos.

The Hotel Garden San Jose, recommended by Debora at Enchanted Expeditions, was lovely and appropriately named. Spacious rooms, a nice spa (hot tub, sauna, steam room) and above all, beautiful landscaping throughout the property with mature trees and flowering shrubs. Breakfast could be improved upon (ask for machine espresso coffee) with more plant-based options, but we enjoyed our dinners and had a great experience overall.

Extra night in Quito

This trip exceeded my expectation in term of wildlife viewing, landscape, and activities like hiking, snorkeling, kayaking ... Galapagos is an amazing, must-see place for nature lovers ... Our stay on the Beluga Yatch was great! Wonderful tour director Franklin and crew, deliciously 
well prepared fresh food with artisanal cheese produced by the owner family.  I would love to take other trips by Enchanted Expedition and will recommend to friends and family.  Thank you! 

Fam trip Beluga Dec 07-14/2022

The Enchanted lodge is in a beautiful & calm setting . We had a lovely room with garden view . The spa was so relaxed after a busy day in town . Great staff and service . Thank you for the wonderful experience to stay on Santa Cruz Island 

The 6 day cruise on the Beluga boat is a dream come true trip for me .  Every day came with new surprises like flipping manta rays , surfing fur sea lions , nursing baby sea lions , snorkeling with marine iguanas and many green turtles ,….. and Galapagos really exceeded my expectations.  I really enjoyed the active trip : snorkeling  twice daily , kayaking , daily walks to explore the islands ,…. The staffs & service are amazing - Franklin is so knowledgeable & pointed out all the cool stuffs for us - Big applause to our captain Jose - he turned the boat around for us to see dolphins , sea lions , manta rays ,… Very attentive staffs : Lenis , Diego , Israel , David . Thank you Chef Lucho for delicious & healthy meals - like 5 star restaurant with perfect seasonings and Ivan with his excellent service - our room are always cleaned twice daily & he always welcome us back from our daily excursions with great drinks & warm smile .

Thank you Enchanted expeditions for this amazing trip - I’ll definitely come back and will share this wonderful experience with all my friends and family . 

Beluga Fam trip Dec 07-14 2022

The animals were amazing! 
Food was excellent . 
The small group was nice.
Boat and cabin were clean and comfortable. 

We were surprised that boat was very loud, but maybe all are diesel engines?

CACHALOTE EXPLORER 8 DAYS CRUISE

We had a blast on the Cachalote! The crew was top notch! They worked hard and made sure everything was excellent! We really liked that this cruise went to a lot of places that other cruises didn't or that you could get to on your own. This made for some great animal encounters and experiences. The food on board was delicious and we were never hungry. My husband and I dont eat red meat and whenever that was offered for a meal they brought us out some chicken or fish. They didn't have to do that but it was really appreciated. There was plenty of spaces on deck where you could go and socialize with other guests and the crew or you could find somewhere to sit alone too. This is a single hull ship so it does rock more than a catamaran would. I am prone to sea sickness but just took some medicine beforehand and didn't have any issues at all. This is definately the boat to take if you want a real wilderness experience with a down to earth and fun group of people. It isn't too expensive where the people are stuck up. The ages of our group ranged from 20s to 70s and we all got along great and got to do all of the activities that we wanted!

Beautiful gardens to relax in away from the city, abundant wildlife, wonderful food, excellent room, very friendly and courteous staff, helpful reception staff who arranged a taxi to take us to the old city and wait to bring us back, reliable airport pick up and transit.   Reasonable room rate for B&B so we will definitely stay here next time we are in Quito..

MAINLAND ECUADOR HOTEL

Magical.  
- our guide in Quito (Raoul) is  very knowledgeable about the culture, education, and history of Ecuador and every conversation showed his passion for his country and peoples.  
- Debora is wonderful.  She organized the part of our trip that was outside the yoga retreat and as a result we experienced Ecuador and SanCristobal with ease. Thank you
- and then there was the week in Santa Cruz at Enchanted Resort.    Our days were full of excellent food, wonderful accommodations and staff that welcomed us like family.  Our daily expeditions were unique- snorkeling with sharks, sea turtles and the most amazing fish, hiking in extreme heat (that I almost got used to 😊), experiencing the sun and sea aboard nice boats, and finally we spent time with the blue footed boobies (that stole my heart) and the male frigates strutting their stuff.  WOW.
