Yoga in the Sacred Valley

A Retreat in the Peruvian Andes

The Divine Feminine, Unleashed in the Andes

The divine feminine has a home address, and it sits about 9,000 feet up in Peru's Sacred Valley.

The Andean people call her Pachamama: Earth, time, and the whole living world in one holy name. She is the creative force that raises mountains, carves rivers, feeds harvests, and sends storms. She is fertile in every sense of the word, and she answers to no one.

That same force lives in you. Some women give birth to children. Some give birth to movements, businesses, books, art, revolutions, and whole new versions of themselves. The divine feminine is the power to create, protect, burn down what needs burning, and begin again. This retreat is where you plug back into it.

For seven days in May, we live in her lap: a private mountainside sanctuary above the Sacred Valley, ours alone for the week. Open-air practice spaces hang over the Andes. Gardens grow straight out of the earth. At night the Milky Way pours across the peaks. The Inca called it Mayu, the celestial river, mirror of the Urubamba flowing below.

As above, so below. You will feel it in your bones.

The week is alchemy, built on the three worlds of Andean cosmology. The Serpent rules the world below: roots, shadow, the old skin we are ready to shed. The Puma rules this world: muscle, courage, appetite, the power to act. The Condor rules the world above: vision, spirit, the long view from the high winds. We descend. We rise. We take flight.

And make no mistake: this is yoga for the resistance. When the world asks this much of us, rest is radical, joy is defiance, and community is how we win. We go to Pachamama to refill the well, so we can come home and keep showing up for what we love.

Come solo, or bring your person. Men are welcome and will find themselves in excellent company, because this retreat is unapologetically pro-woman, pro-earth, and pro-liberation.

Serpent. Puma. Condor.

The Andean world has three layers, and every one of them is alive.

Ukhu Pacha, the world below, belongs to the Serpent. This is the realm of roots, seeds, ancestors, and everything buried. The Serpent teaches us to shed. Our first days are earthy and deep: an offering to Pachamama, the heat and darkness of the temazcal, practice that drops you down into your hips, your belly, your history. Whatever skin you've outgrown, you leave it here.

Kay Pacha, this world, belongs to the Puma. This is the realm of bodies, appetites, courage, and action. The Puma teaches us to move with power. Mid-week we walk sacred terrain, get our hands in clay, feast, laugh, and practice strong. Mother's Day lands right here, in the heart of the world we live in.

Hanan Pacha, the world above, belongs to the Condor. This is the realm of spirit, stars, and vision. The Condor teaches us to see the long view. Our final days rise into sound, stillness, and fire beneath the Andean night sky, where you name what you are carrying home.

Descend. Rise. Fly. That's the alchemy.

Divine Feminine, Unleashed

Pachamama is the divine feminine in her wildest form.

In the Andes, she is the creative force behind every mountain, river, harvest, and storm. She is lover, warrior, healer, and destroyer, and she lives in every one of us.

Some women give birth to children. Some give birth to movements. Some give birth to businesses, studios, books, art, and revolutions. All of it is sacred creation, and all of it gets honored here: in practice, in ceremony, and at a long, joyful table.

Your hosts are proudly childfree baddies who pour their creative fire into teaching, travel, and making good trouble. Bring whatever you're birthing next. We'll bring the fire.

Who This Retreat Is For

This retreat is for the ones in the middle of becoming.

You can feel an old version of yourself loosening its grip. You want space: real, wide, mountain-sized space to think a whole thought, feel what you've been postponing, and hear your own voice again.

This is a yoga retreat for the resistance. It's for the organizers, marchers, teachers, caregivers, voters, and truth-tellers who have been carrying the fight and feel the well running low. Rest is resistance. Joy is resistance. Community is resistance. We come to the mountains to restore what the work takes from us, so we can go home and keep fighting for what we love, louder.

You love a strong morning practice and a long dinner conversation about how we want to live and what the world needs from us. You travel to understand a place, and you want your spiritual life to have a spine.

Artists. Activists. Entrepreneurs. Teachers. Creators, rebels, and chosen family. Seekers at a crossroads. First-timers and DDY lifers.

If you feel the pull, trust it. The Andes call loudly.

Why the Sacred Valley

For centuries, the Andean people have treated this valley as holy ground. The mountains are Apus, protector spirits with names and personalities. The river is a living being. The land itself is part of every prayer.

Spend a week here and your nervous system recalibrates. The altitude sharpens your senses. The silence has texture. Breath becomes deliberate, and movement becomes devotion. Yoga stops being something you do and becomes something you live inside.

Around every bend: Inca terraces, stone pathways walked for centuries, market colors that rearrange your idea of color, and a living tradition of gratitude to the Earth that we are honored to witness and learn from.

People arrive expecting a beautiful retreat. They leave with perspective.

Adventure. Activism. Accountability.

That's the DDY trifecta, and it travels with us to Peru.

We get quiet so we can get loud. We practice yoga as liberation and as resistance, travel with respect for the people and land who host us, and gather a group of thoughtful, curious, big-hearted humans who make every meal feel like a salon.

What people remember most is the company: the conversations, the laughter, the friendships that outlast the trip. Chosen family, every time.

Your Hostess

This retreat is led by Shelley Carroll, founder of Dancing Dogs Yoga in Atlanta and DDY Travels.

Shelley has taught yoga since 2010, trains teachers around the world, and has taught on six continents, leading DDY travelers from the Galápagos to Morocco to the Croatian coast. She is an unapologetic feminist and spiritual activist who once coordinated legal observers for the ACLU of Georgia, and she teaches yoga, activism, and social justice as one inseparable practice.

Her classes are grounded, smart, funny, and deeply human, rooted in the five elements of earth, water, fire, air, and space. Her job on this trip is to hold the container. Pachamama handles the rest.

Shelley believes travel, practice, and community can change how we see the world, and how boldly we choose to live in it.

Cancellation Policy + Travel Insurance

When you book a DDY Travels retreat, we immediately commit real money on your behalf: your room, your meals, your guides, your ceremonies, your transfers. Our partners require payment far in advance, and most of those payments cannot be recovered. That is why all retreat payments are non-refundable, and why travel insurance is required. Please read every word of this before you book.

Protect Yourself: Get CFAR Insurance

Travel insurance is required for every guest. Your policy must cover trip cancellation, trip interruption, and emergency medical expenses, including medical evacuation.

We strongly recommend a policy with Cancel For Any Reason (CFAR) coverage. It is the single best way to protect your investment.

Standard travel insurance only pays when you cancel for a reason listed in the policy, such as a covered illness or family emergency. CFAR pays when your reason is on no list at all: a new job, a breakup, a change of heart. If life happens, CFAR is what gets money back into your pocket.

How CFAR typically works (always confirm the details of your own policy):

  • You must buy it within a short window after your first payment, often 14 to 21 days. Buy insurance the same day you book.

  • You usually must insure the full non-refundable cost of your trip.

  • It typically reimburses 50 to 75 percent of your costs.

  • You usually must cancel at least 48 hours before departure.

You can purchase insurance through WeTravel's partner at checkout or from any provider you choose. Traveling without the required coverage means you accept the full financial risk of cancellation, interruption, and medical costs yourself.

When Refunds Happen

Refunds are rare, and we want you to know exactly where you stand. A refund is issued in only two situations:

  1. DDY Travels cancels the retreat. If we cancel for any reason, including not reaching our minimum group size, you receive a full refund of all payments made to DDY Travels.

  2. Your spot is filled from the waitlist, within our window. If you cancel in writing more than 60 days before departure, and a new guest books and fully pays for your spot, we will refund your payments minus your non-refundable deposit. Both conditions must be met. We will make a good-faith effort to fill your spot but cannot guarantee it, and you remain responsible for your payments until it is filled.

In every other situation, including any cancellation within 60 days of departure, no refunds or credits are issued. That is exactly what CFAR insurance is for.

Transferring Your Spot

You may transfer your spot to another person one time, with our written approval, before the final payment date. Your replacement must complete our registration and participation agreement. Any payment between you and your replacement is your responsibility.

Payments

Your deposit is non-refundable. Final payment is is due 90 days before the trip begins. If a payment is missed and not resolved within 7 days of our reminder, your spot may be released and your booking treated as a cancellation under this policy. Communication is key. We are here to help.

If DDY Travels Cancels or Changes the Retreat

Our refund covers only payments made to DDY Travels. We are not responsible for airfare, hotels, visas, gear, or any other costs you arrange on your own, so book flexible flights where possible and let insurance cover the rest.

Itineraries may change because of weather, venue needs, local conditions, or guest safety. We will always swap in an experience of equal spirit when we can. Changes to individual activities do not entitle anyone to a refund.

Delays, Missed Activities + Early Departure

No refunds or credits are issued for:

  • late arrivals or missed transfers

  • missed activities, meals, or nights

  • early departures, for any reason

  • personal schedule changes

  • flight cancellations, travel delays, illness, or any circumstance outside the control of DDY Travels

If you are asked to leave the retreat because your behavior endangers or seriously disrupts the group, no refund is issued and any extra travel costs are yours.

All Cancellations in Writing

To cancel or request a transfer, email hello@ddytravels.com. Your cancellation date is the date we receive your email.

Acknowledgment of Terms

By submitting any payment for this retreat, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to this policy in full, including the non-refundable payment terms and the travel insurance requirement.

You agree to raise any payment dispute directly with DDY Travels at hello@ddytravels.com, and you agree not to initiate a credit card chargeback or payment dispute for any reason covered by this policy.

The Threshold

Day One
The Threshold image

Touch down in Cusco and ride our group transfer down into the Sacred Valley, where the mountains close around you like a pair of arms. Settle into your room, breathe the thin bright air, and join us for an opening circle as the light goes gold on the peaks. Welcome dinner under the first stars.

Serpent: Into the Root

Day Two
Serpent: Into the Root image

The Serpent lives in the world below, among roots, seeds, and ancestors, and that's where we begin. An Andean offering ceremony honors Pachamama, weaving gratitude and intention into a gift for the Earth. Afternoon practice drops you low and slow: hips, belly, spine, breath. Tonight you name the skin you came here to shed.

Sunday, May 9, 2027

Serpent: The Great Shedding

Day Three

Heat, steam, darkness, and prayer. Today we enter the temazcal, the womb of the Earth and the closest thing to a rebirth you can book. Crawl in carrying the old skin. Walk out without it. We spend the rest of the day soft, slow, and wide open, because new skin is tender.

Monday, May 10, 2027

Serpent: New Skin

Day Four

The Serpent sheds and keeps moving. A sinuous, undulating morning practice wakes the spine and teaches you to move like water. The afternoon belongs to integration: journal, wander the gardens, nap, or claim your massage. By dinner, you'll feel the difference in your body before you can put it into words.

Tuesday, May 11, 2027

Puma: Wild Body

Day Five

In your new skin, the Puma rises. A guided hike through ancient pathways and terraced hillsides puts power back in your legs and air in your lungs. In the afternoon, we gather on a terrace above the valley with clay and color and make something wild with the hands that carried so much. Long-table dinner, big laughs.

Wednesday, May 12, 2027

Condor: Sound + Fire

Day Six

We take flight. A deep sound bath washes through the body and quiets the mind. At nightfall, we circle the fire under the Andean sky and burn the skins we shed this week, then speak aloud what we're claiming next. Final night, full hearts, a sky full of stars.

What's Included

What's included

Six Nights in Our Own Mountain Sanctuary

Our private mountainside sanctuary above the Sacred Valley, booked out for DDY alone. Choose a shared or private room in peaceful bungalows and suites, wake up to the Andes in your window, and fall asleep under a sky thick with stars.

Every Meal, Made with Love and Local Ingredients

Nourishing, vibrant food grown from Andean soil, from our welcome dinner on Day 1 through breakfast on Day 7. Long tables, big flavors, conversations that run late.

Daily Yoga + Meditation

Practice in open-air spaces suspended above the valley, designed to meet the landscape and move through the three worlds: grounding Serpent practice, powerful Puma flow, and spacious Condor stillness. All levels welcome; every body belongs.

Andean Offering to Pachamama

A traditional Andean ceremony honoring Mother Earth, where gratitude, prayer, and intention are woven together into a gift for the land. This is where the week begins: with reverence, and with a thank-you to the Mother who holds us all.

Temazcal Sweat Lodge Ceremony

Heat, steam, darkness, and prayer inside the earth's womb. The temazcal is a purification ritual that resets the body, clears the mind, and asks you to leave behind what you no longer need. You emerge lighter, softer, and a little bit reborn.

Guided Sacred Valley Hike

Walk ancient pathways and terraced hillsides on a guided walk through landscape shaped by centuries of devotion. The Puma's day: strong legs, open lungs, and views that rearrange your priorities.

Sound Bath

A deep vibrational journey with resonant instruments that calms the nervous system, softens the mind, and opens space for everything the week has stirred to settle and integrate.

One 60-Minute Massage

A personalized therapeutic massage to release what you've been holding too tightly. Your body has carried you a long way. Let someone take care of it.

Pottery / Art Workshop

Clay and color on a terrace overlooking the valley. Get your hands dirty, make something beautiful (or gloriously weird), and let creativity do some of the healing.

Fire Circle Under the Andean Sky

On our final night, we gather around the fire to burn away what we're finished with and speak aloud what we're claiming next. The Condor's view, the stars overhead, your chosen family around you.

Round-Trip Group Airport Transfers

ncluded group transfers between Cusco airport and our retreat home during set arrival and departure windows. Arriving outside them? We'll help you arrange your own transportation.

The Full DDY Experience

Opening and closing circles, intentional community, and a hostess who has been leading these journeys for over a decade. You show up; we handle the magic and the logistics.

What's not included

Airfare

Book your own flights into Cusco (CUZ). Land inside our group transfer window and we'll take it from there.

Travel Insurance (Required)

Every guest must carry a policy covering trip cancellation, medical expenses, and travel interruption. Buy it at WeTravel checkout or through any provider, and buy it right after you book. We suggest CFAR-- Cancel For Any Reason.

Machu Picchu Pilgrimage (optional add-on)

Why end at the gates of the most sacred site in the Americas? Extend your journey with a guided pilgrimage to Machu Picchu right after the retreat: train through the cloud forest, a night in Aguas Calientes, and the citadel itself with a guide who brings the stones to life. [Price + date once the Cusco operator quotes it.] The urgency line: Machu Picchu 2027 tickets are expected to release this winter. Daily entry is capped and the popular circuits sell out fast. Book Peru and the add-on now, and we'll grab your ticket the day they drop.

Rainbow Mountain Adventure (optional add-on)

Stay longer and climb into color. Vinicunca's striped slopes rise high into the Andes in bands of red, gold, and turquoise, a landscape that looks painted by a goddess with a sense of humor. Big altitude, bigger views, bragging rights forever.

Extra Massages + Facials

One 60-minute massage is on us. Additional spa treatments are available at your own expense.

Gratuities

We will send out guidance on tipping before we leave the states!
