About this trip

 Painting Alpine Landscapes in Schruns, Austria - September 16 - 23, 2024

Your Instructor: Leslie Jorgensen

Join us on a trip to beautiful Schruns, Austria, and be moved by the beauty of the Montafon Valley as Travel Fever Tours partners with Leslie Jorgensen, a renowned landscape artist from Salida, Colorado. Leslie’s skill and style will inspire you to explore color theory, composition, and new techniques as you paint in the Austrian alps.

Schruns, our home base for this plein air workshop, is an historic and peaceful town that sits in a dramatic valley with step sides and breathtaking views. We will stay in the valley, giving you easy access to painting sites at the base of the mountains and access to the cable cars that will bring us to painting sites high in the mountains. We will spend each morning painting and spend the afternoons exploring the area with optional hikes and visits to surrounding villages. Plus there will be free time in the afternoon when you can choose between painting, exploring, or perhaps a siesta.

Leslie will lead daily painting demonstrations and will assist students individually. Artists of all skill levels are welcome. We will only be using acrylics during this workshop.

While in Schruns, we will stay at the Hotel Auhof and eat like kings on creative four-course menus.

Other activities:
Non-painting partners and others are welcome to join our adventure to enjoy the cultural activities and additional excursions we have planned.

Traveling can be stressful, but we take the worry out of travel by handling all the hard bits for you. We do the planning, book the hotels, and reserve your restaurant. We know the villages to visit, the vineyards to tour, and the cooking classes to attend. We set all this up for you. Then we make your trip easy. First we pick you up at the airport in a small van and whisk you to your hotel. We travel with you from place to place, from activity to activity, and finally deliver you back to the airport for your flight home.

Very well orchestrated introduction to a delightful city where we were centrally based. I thoroughly enjoyed everyone in our small group and thought the guides Bob and Cecily chose for us were both fun and knowledgeable and our activities were a blast. Many thanks to Travel Fever for creating such a memorable and authentic experience in this fascinating westernmost part of Europe. How fun to discover I enjoyed Fado so much, found sardines so delicious, and painted tile with glee.

I had a lovely time. I really enjoyed the variety of things that we did. Some of the things I really enjoyed were our lovely meals, our cooking class, painting the tiles, our adventures to other communities outside Porto, the camaraderie of the group itself and the guest house we stayed in. It was all really great. I want to thank Bob as well for being a very thoughtful and helpful leader for our group.

We had a fabulous experience. The hosts are fantastic, accommodating, kind and make the trip stress free. The food was superb and the people that participated with us in the tour were fun to be with.

This trip exceeded my expectations!! Both Mimi, our "cultural guide", and Roberto, our Spanish teacher, were perfect for this experience, and did a masterful job of collaborating to meet the needs of everyone in the group. The whole was delightful and very comfortable, including the pool and patio, a welcome oasis on warm sunny afternoons! The cultural experiences were exceptional, and really made me want to experience more of this very special region and its' people. And the food in Oaxaca was fabulous. It'll be hard to enjoy American-style "Mexican food".

For me, this trip will be up there with "one-of-lifetime" beautiful experiences, because it was well organized, with a tone of flexibility. Every single one of the daily excursions was fascinating, enjoyable and interesting,. I felt taken care of, and I won't forget to mention the increase of conversing in Spanish with more confidence..
