Welcome to the most adventurous upgrade to our Pakistan Tuk-Tuk Challenge yet — a jaw-dropping journey from Skardu to Khunjerab Pass, deep in the heart of Gilgit-Baltistan. This isn’t your average holiday; it’s a 3-wheeled odyssey through surreal landscapes, sky-piercing peaks, alpine deserts, and ancient mountain communities.
Pakistan still sits off most people’s travel radar — and honestly, that’s part of the magic. This new route dives even deeper into the lesser-explored north. Think: racing across the world’s highest cold desert, sipping chai in the Hunza Valley, climbing towards one of the highest border crossings on the planet, and being welcomed by locals who’ll treat you like family.
You’ll tackle it all in a custom Tuk-Tuk, backed up by our trusty crew of mechanics, medics, and fixers. And yes — it’s a proper challenge. There’ll be plenty of moments when the road gets bumpy (literally and figuratively), but that’s where the best stories begin.
You’re not just sightseeing — you’re part of a 10-day “Amazing Race”-style challenge with a twist: completing challenges, forging new friendships, getting beautifully lost, and carving out your very own piece of travel history.
Drive your own Tuk-Tuk, 745 km across Pakistan in a team of 2 or 3 people.
9 nights, 7 driving days and 1 rest day
Training on day 1 before you take the Tuk-Tuk on the road.
Welcome to Skardu — home to the world’s most dramatic mountain ranges, cold deserts, and turquoise rivers.
Settle in, meet the Large Minority team, and complete your trip registration before diving into your first Tuk-Tuk training briefing. This is where you’ll meet your fellow adventurers and get your first glimpse of the rugged landscapes that define northern Pakistan.
You’ll stay at Khoj Resort Shigar, overlooking the Shigar River and the mighty Karakoram Range — the perfect introduction to this extraordinary region.
Today is all about getting you fully confident behind the wheel. After breakfast, we head to the Sarfaranga Cold Desert — one of the world’s highest cold deserts — for your full Tuk-Tuk driving lesson and to continue practicing.
Once everyone is trained up, we’ll make our way toward the iconic Shangri-La Resort, passing through Skardu town and catching glimpses of local life along the way.
Shangri-La is famous for its deep-red cabins surrounding a crystal-clear lake — a peaceful, surreal setting to unwind after your first Tuk-Tuk experience.
Leaving Shangri-La behind, we follow the Karakoram Highway towards Gilgit, travelling between three legendary mountain ranges:
The Karakoram
The Himalayas (home to Nanga Parbat)
The Hindu Kush
At Jaglot, you’ll stop at the famous viewpoint where the three mountain ranges and two great rivers — the Indus and the Gilgit — meet.
After a full day of epic scenery, check in at the Ramada Resort Gilgit, complete with modern comforts, mountain views, and a relaxing pool and spa.
Today’s drive winds along lush valleys and the turquoise waters of the Hunza River. We’ll stop at Rakaposhi Viewpoint for an unforgettable close-up view of the 7,788m peak.
Arriving in Attabad Lake, you’ll check in to Luxus Hunza, perched directly on the lake’s electric-blue shoreline.
Today is a journey through the cultural and natural gems of upper Hunza. Highlights include:
Gulmit Village – Traditional Wakhi homes and centuries-old culture
Hussaini Suspension Bridge – A thrilling (and very photogenic) crossing
Passu Cones – Jagged peaks like nowhere else on Earth
Sost Market – The final town before the Pakistan–China border
Your stay tonight is at the brand-new Serena Hotel Sost, offering comfort and tranquility surrounded by high-altitude wilderness.
Time for the big one. We ascend along the Karakoram Highway to the Khunjerab Pass (4,693m) — the highest paved border crossing in the world. The landscapes here are raw, powerful, and completely unforgettable.
At the top, you’ll stand at the Pakistan–China border, marked by its iconic gate and prayer flags. Keep your eyes open for wildlife — Himalayan ibex, Marco Polo sheep, and even snow leopards roam these mountains.
Return to Sost for a relaxed evening.
We make our way back towards Hunza, passing orchards, stone villages, river valleys, and towering peaks. Enjoy the scenery — it’s some of the most photographed terrain on the entire adventure.
Arrive at PC Legacy Nasirabad, with views over Rakaposhi and the Hunza River — a peaceful, stylish place to unwind.
After days of high-altitude adventure, today is yours to explore at your own pace. Recommended highlights include:
Karimabad – Cafés, crafts, and local culture
Baltit Fort & Altit Fort – Centuries of Hunza history
Eagle’s Nest Viewpoint – Panoramic mountain views
Ganish Village – Traditional settlement and heritage homes
Spend the evening back at PC Legacy, enjoying the peaceful mountain air and a sky full of stars.

Our Pakistan Tuk-Tuk Challenge does exactly what it says on the tin. It’s in Pakistan. It’s challenging. You drive rickshaws. And a full on Pakistani adventure is pretty much guaranteed. But really, there’s so much more in the tin than that: there’s bigger mountains than you’ve ever seen before, impossibly hot curry, the occasional overloaded truck and boatloads of culture and history. If that sounds like your particular brand of fun, read on.
Did we mention the food? You’ve got a blend of Indian and Asian influences, underpinned by stacks of oil and spices. Hot kebabs and rice. Aromatic plates and bowls of veggies. Turmeric, cardamom, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, garam masala. More flavour for your tuk-tuk behaviour. You know what? Just go and pay your closest Pakistani restaurant a visit. Then come back and tell us that you don’t want to go straight to the source. We won’t believe you.
We hire the rickshaws from local drivers while we arrange all of your accommodation. On top of that we also ensure a big chunk of your entry fee goes towards helping local communities. All you have to do is turn up, get in and drive the damned things. You won’t find another adventure like it.

All international flights will arrive in Islamabad, but please note that the adventure starts in Skardu and ends in Gilgit — both of which require internal flights from/to Islamabad.
We recommend arriving in Islamabad at least a day before the adventure begins, to ensure you have enough time to catch a domestic flight to Skardu. The same applies at the end of the trip — make sure to allow time to travel back to Islamabad from Gilgit before your international departure.
While we don’t book flights directly, once you're signed up, we’ll connect you with our trusted local team in Pakistan who can assist with internal flight bookings and visa support. You're also welcome to make your own arrangements if you prefer.
As soon as you're confirmed on the adventure, just reach out — we’re here to help get everything sorted!
Probably not that set of golf clubs. Pakistan has hot summers but in the mountains the temperature drops. So pack accordingly. The nights can get a little chilly in the hills, so a windbreaker jacket and a few light layers wouldn’t go amiss. along with a hat and gloves for those days up at the border. Other than that, bring all your travel essentials, some good quality suncream and anything you think will make the long driving days more fun (we recommend honing you I-Spy skills beforehand). Oh, and did we mention it might rain?
Don’t worry, you don’t have to strap suitcases to the roof of your tuk tuk. We’ve got a luggage truck that will follow us around. Each morning you’ll load it up with your heavy bags, and each night we’ll hand it back at our hotel. Job done. Simples.
Tuk-Tuks are unique vehicles that require careful handling and maintenance. While our team works tirelessly to ensure the safety and reliability of our fleet, it´s important to note that Tuk-Tuks are delicate machines that can experience mechanical issues or breakdowns due to improper handling or poor road conditions.
We take great pride in providing our customers with an authentic and adventurous travel experience, and part of that experience is accepting the risks and challenges that come with driving a Tuk-Tuk.
In the event that a Tuk-Tuk does experience mechanical issues we have mechanics on hand and, depending on the nature of the breakdown, it may be the responsibility of the driver to repair the vehicle at their own expense.
We understand that this may be an inconvenience, but we believe it is a fair price to pay for the thrill and excitement of Tuk-Tuk travel.
So, if you´re ready to embark on a one-of-a-kind adventure, just remember to drive carefully, follow our safety guidelines, and embrace the challenges that come with this unique mode of transportation.
After all, it´s all part of the adventure!
