Cortney Arnold

I’m Cortney. Since I can remember, I’ve been passionate about creating spaces for connection, growth, and self-discovery. I have focused much of my life on studying leadership development and community building. It is a gift to blend my expertise with a deep commitment to helping people reconnect with themselves and others. My approach draws from years of research, creative problem-solving, and a knack for fostering meaningful relationships. (Julia says I’m brief in text, not in life 🙃).

As a yoga practitioner since 2008, I incorporate movement and breathwork into my practice to guide people toward a renewed sense of embodiment and harmony. My introspective practices encourage people to rediscover the power of their bodies and minds, fostering balance and a grounded connection to the present.

Finding myself where I am today was filled with joy and tragedy. Like many others, I often felt invisible – lacking confidence and power. I’ve lost people closest to me and gained new friends and family. I’ve been betrayed; I’ve been the betrayer. What I seek now is deep healing, and I want to offer the same: the opportunity to show up with all our scars and shadows and learn to love the darkest parts of ourselves.

Julia Yates

Hi there and welcome to WolfWhale retreats! We’re glad you found us, and now a little about me… I’m Julia Yates, and in my world, I’m used to telling you what I do, but here I’d like to start with what I’m most passionate about, what lights me up (and I’m grateful that’s a lot of what I do too!). I’m passionate about lifelong growing, learning, and intentional being. I value connection, exploration, and expansion…with others and ourselves. I’m pretty into laughing, dancing, and all things music (that’s a future conversation!).

My day gig as a trained therapist and teaching faculty for UW-Madison’s School of Medicine and Public Health fills so much of my work life cup, and it helps me cultivate and create meaningful content for Wolf Whale retreats anchored in science, health, healing, and that splash of human magic.

My path to WolfWhale was one of many twists and turns, like most healing journeys! The pivotal points of pain, surrender, vulnerability, letting go, and coming back to true belonging with myself and body after shifting relationships, a difficult break up, and a total hip replacement (to name a few) shaped me in ways I could not imagine then and would not re-script now. It’s some of this same beautiful and painful growth narrative that connected me with my soul nourishing friend, Cortney. It’s what started our true belonging conversations, and it’s what led to the birth of WolfWhale retreats. I’m not alone in my journey, she’s not alone in hers, you are not alone in yours. Let’s do this together, my friends.
