We depart Huanchaco (near city of Trujillo) at 6 am sharp! As it is about a 10-12 hour ride (rough and windy Andean mountain road) to the village put-in at Chagual along the Río Marañón. Camp, assemble and rig equipment at put in. Wait for the rest of the crew that is flying the next morning. These participants can fly in into Trujillo this day, though it would be ideal to have all the group together on the 13th, it´s still worth it to have an extra day and see the archaelogical wonders around Trujillo.

Float pass Vijus and into the stunning Asconta Canyon 

Throughout the trip we will navigate many class II, III and IV rapids. We will travel through the stunning canyon, sometimes almost twice as deep as the Grand Canyon of the Colorado and camp on natural, untouched beaches. We will visit local villages who have a lifestyle quite unique to the Andes and Marañón. 

Those returning home will have a 2.5 hours ride to their accomodation in Jaen, at El Bosque Hotel. If you need help booking this night, you can include it at check out. You can fly Jaen -> Lima the next morning.

Those wishing to do onward travel will get a separate van and do the stunning ride through the mountains to the village of Cocachimba.

The 3 day add on trip will take you to Gocta Waterfall, Ancient City of Kuelap, museum at Leymabamba and sights around Chachapoyas. If this is of interest you can book it when paying your balance for the trip.
