About this trip

A spring pause on the farm - our two year anniversary of PAUSE!

Before the height of the summer and all the energy and "doing" that comes with that, please join us for a little rest and recharge on the farm for a wellness weekend made up of all the things our Petite Pauses have been delivering on over the past two years. Over 250 women have done the hard work of carving out the time to take some space for themselves here in the mid-coast.  Rest, delicious room to roam, great food, a community of women who all need a little break and some relaxation.

Join us - Friday May 3rd  - Sunday May 5th

IF YOU ARE ABLE TO COME EARLY - PLEASE DO SO! WE HAVE THE OPTION TO COME ON THURSDAY PRIOR TO THE RETREAT "OFFICIAL" START SO YOU CAN LAND ON THE FARM AND GET TO PAUSING A BIT SOONER...JUST ADD THAT OPTION TO YOUR RESERVATION AT THE TIME OF BOOKING.

Optional Workshops & Activities:   Daily Yoga, Gardening, "Roar & Rest" Workshop, Meditation, Sauna/Hot Tub, Hiking, Wine Tasting & Massage

This retreat offering is a nurturance of the spirit of pause; an exploration and contemplation of slowing down enough to recognize our own presence.  As Einstein once famously said “No problem can be solved from the same mindset that created it.”

We look forward to welcoming you to the farm for a little break!

Staying at Tops'l Farm

For a full FAQ about staying with us, please visit our website FAQ page.

Lodging.  Lodging options listed for this weekend are in both shared and private Woodland Cabins as well as shared/private rooms in the Tops'l Farmhouse and Cider House (located 1.5 miles down the road from Tops'l Farm). Please review the different options in our pricing page and choose which one might be best for you! Some are private rooms (just you), some are "private shared" (you and someone you know) and some are simply shared just like summer camp! Please reach out if you have any questions on these lodging types.

-Food.   All meals and snacks included. A focus on simple, nourishing meals with seasonal ingredients. Breakfast in the farmhouse and lunch will be casual offerings that you can enjoy in a group setting or take to eat quietly somewhere on the farm.  Dinners will be in our event barn space & shared.

If you have dietary restrictions please let us know in the notes section on checkout and we will do our best to accommodate.

- Misc. Alcohol, phone use, etc. We are not enforcing strict rules around these things. Our goal is to help create a space for yourself to truly recharge and reconnect with yourself. We highly encourage you to drop your phone off with us for a period of time. If that brings you severe anxiety, then of course this isn't the right choice for you. Same goes with choosing (or not) to have this time on the farm be spirit-free - we know you will make the best choice for yourself and we will honor that space!

-Cancellation Policy.

Please note that because Petite Pauses are by design limited to a tiny number of attendees, our cancellation policy is in place to help guests and us alike work together sharing costs that may arise from unexpected cancellations.

HOLD DEPOSITS ARE NON-REFUNDABLE.

Hold deposits ARE transferable to another attendee found and assigned by original attendee.

Cancellation requests submitted within 30 days of retreat date, 50% of total amount (less deposit) will be refunded.

Within 14 days of your retreat: sorry but no refunds given, no exceptions. If you find yourself in this spot, please find someone to gift it to.

Any refunds allowed will incur a 3% processing fee.

No one books an experience like this with the intention of cancelling it, but unexpected events do occur, so please consider purchasing travel insurance. By booking a spot on our retreat you assume responsibility for reading and understanding our cancellation policies. Exceptions cannot be made for any reason, including weather,  injury/illness, or personal emergencies. No refunds or credits for failure to attend or failure to complete the retreat, or for arriving late or leaving early.

- Some legalese. Many of the experiences at the farm are adventures in the woods and as such require an adventurous spirit and the understanding that they are inherently risky. With that said, please review the following:

By visiting Tops'l Farm (VENUE) , you as the GUEST agree to the following during your stay (EVENT):

“Group” element disclaimer:

Please note: While this retreat is about pause and self-reflection for each individual person, it has been crafted with a collective group experience at the core of its design. There are few opportunities as conducive to nurturing self-love, personal growth, and emotional healing as those that afford us to share safe, honest, compassionate space with other humans. (And these moments are so few and far between in our busy, fast-paced modern world!). We will be sharing stories (each to the degree they may feel inspired), time and space, and will inevitably learn a great deal about ourselves and each other in the process.

Never done the group thing before, and worried about kumbayas or eye-gazing or interpretive dances?   Don’t fret. Jane and Sarah are dynamic mixtures of sensitivity, respect, sincerity (and delicately-placed humor and irreverence), and are consistently tuning in (both overtly and implicitly) to the varying needs and desires of participants.  Every person and every group are met where they’re at, and the content of gatherings and discussions are designed to adapt in real time to the nuances and needs of a group and its members.

Can’t get enough of juicy group stuff and LOVE kumbayas and eye-gazing and interpretive dances? Well, there may be some of that too. We can promise you realness and honesty, safety of expression and the celebration of personal truth. Beyond that, the specifics of actual activities and engagements depend on the unique constellation of the dear humans that show up together.

If you can...a Gift of Pause

For each retreat we will be gifting up a spot to a woman (healthcare, educational field or just a tired human) who really needs this pause and connection. If you have the means by which to pop in a little something extra to help us grow this gifted option the universe will thank you! Will be an option to "add on" this gift during check out.

There are really no words to describe how special Tops'l Farm has become for me. This was my second "pause" and it was even better than the first. The concept is brilliant, the venue lovely and the people...oh my gosh the people! Tops'l is the perfect place to dial down the outside noise and enjoy nature, unplugging and absorbing the breathtaking beauty of the surrounding area. Our facilitator, Jane Frederick created an incredible space for this group of busy, caretaking women to exhale literally and figuratively. We started on Friday as strangers, this group of 29 amazing women. We left as friends and confidantes, cheering each other on and hugging without wanting to let go. There are not enough words to explain how special the Petite Pause is and why Tops'l is heaven on earth in Waldoboro Maine. So I will just say.....spectacular. oh, and the cheesecake. unreal.
By Jill P for May Petite Pause - Retreat @ Tops'l Farm on May 12, 2024
I was delighted to return to Tops'l for my second Petite Pause—and it was very different from my last experience, which was with a fairly small group of 11 or 12. What I liked about the larger group was having more diversity, as well as more solo attendees. Even if the number of people meant that it wasn't possible to connect with absolutely everyone, I thoroughly enjoyed my time with those I did get to know; I think that we established a wonderful feeling of connectivity from our first meeting. Jane's chart with things to discuss and reflect on was a good focal point and icebreaker, and I appreciated how that translated to a sense of reflection and exploration and an even better way of connecting with the place, both alone and with others. As with my first visit, I just love the grounds, the campground cabins, and all the little thoughtful touches. I think it was great to have coffee, tea, and snacks available in the event barn all day (because hey, that hot tub made me hungry for some reason!). The food was delicious—including the fiddleheads, which were a real treat (I think they were the freshest ones I've ever had). And the peepers were the perfect sundown symphony. A larger group does present some challenges too. I know that it wasn't easy to schedule all of us for massages; mine was lovely, but unfortunately it ended too close to the start time for the afternoon workshop, which I regret missing out on. And following dinner I did feel we were rushed out of the event barn a bit (I think several of us would have maybe liked to linger with another drink while hanging out there). I do truly appreciate everything the staff was doing to keep things organized and moving along, however! It was clear that Jane put a lot of thought into providing a range of experiences for us—as well as emphasizing that we could participate to the degree we wanted to. I think that's what I love about the Petite Pauses the most: the chance to both connect and retreat, come together and be alone, all in a beautiful place where you feel well taken care of. Thanks to Jane and everyone else at Tops'l for hosting these, and I look forward to coming again.
By Anne S for May Petite Pause - Retreat @ Tops'l Farm on May 11, 2024
Had a wonderful time doing a Petite Pause Retreat at Tops'l Farm. Couldn't have asked for a better location. The amenities (hot tub and sauna) were also divine. I will say the one thing retreat-goers should know is there was some forced sharing. There is some pressure to talk with the group about your experience as you're going through it. I've been to a few other retreats and sharing your thoughts, feelings, etc. with the group was always optional. I think if that was replicated at Tops'l it would be a 10/10 retreat. The food was also out of this world and the tarot workshop changed my life. With a few tweaks, this retreat could be amazing and I'm still grateful I was able to be part of it.

Hello there Abbey - Thank you so much for coming to our spot and pausing! We are sorry you had the impression that the sharing during the pause was forced - this is absolutely not expected and we will make sure all are clear that EVERYTHING during a pause is optional. Have a lovely summer and we hope you see you again!

I originally booked this trip on a recommendation of a friend who had attended. 2 of my friends joined me. We had a great time on our women’s retreat. Wonderful people, delicious food and comfortable accommodation. Thank you for this fantastic experience!
By Jacqueline U for April Petite Pause - Retreat @ Tops'l Farm on May 03, 2024
This was an amazing visit at Tops’l Farm! This Petite Pause was a fantastic way to start into winter with gratitude. Our room at the Cider House was comfortable and well appointed. The house itself is perfect New England charm. The event Barn and farmhouse are gorgeous! The food was so delicious and nourishing. I never left the table hungry. The Host Amy did a fantastic job at gathering us together as well as ensuring we had time for ourselves. Everything was honestly just perfect! Cannot wait to see the lineup for next year so I can decide when I’m coming back!!
