Experience an exciting adventure deep in the Amazon rainforest with our Piranha Tour on the Tambopata River, a half-day experience that combines nature, adventure, and local culture. From Puerto Maldonado, we'll board a motorboat to navigate the waters of the Tambopata River, surrounded by breathtaking landscapes and a diverse array of wildlife. During the tour, you'll learn traditional artisanal fishing techniques and have the challenge of catching one of the Amazon's most iconic species: the piranha. This is the perfect experience for those seeking to connect with nature and enjoy an authentic and fun activity in the Peruvian jungle.
We'll begin our adventure with an early morning pick-up from your hotel or meeting point in Puerto Maldonado. We'll head to the city's port, where we'll begin our journey along the Madre de Dios River.
During the trip, we'll enjoy the beauty of the Amazon rainforest as we navigate the river. With a bit of luck, we may observe different species of tropical birds, such as macaws, herons, and kingfishers, as well as possible sightings of capybaras, monkeys, and caimans along the banks
We'll arrive at an authorized and suitable area for fishing. Our local guide will give us a brief explanation about the ecosystem and teach us some traditional artisanal fishing techniques used in the Amazon. For this activity, we'll use rustic fishing rods and natural bait.
The moment of truth has arrived: catching a piranha! With patience and following the guide's instructions, we will try to catch these fascinating Amazonian fish.
In addition to piranhas, there is also the possibility of catching other native species, such as catfish, mojarras, or pacos, depending on river conditions.
After the activity, we will enjoy a moment of rest surrounded by the impressive Amazonian landscape.
If you manage to catch a piranha, you can observe it up close, always following the safety instructions provided by our guide.
After the activity, we will board the boat again to begin the return trip to Puerto Maldonado. During the journey, you can relax, enjoy the scenery, and take some last photos of the Tambopata River.
We will arrive back in Puerto Maldonado, concluding this exciting Amazonian experience.
