About your trip

Plant Medicine & Energy Healing Retreat it the Andes of Ecuador

September 13-20, 2025

Max 6 guests / 5 spots left *

Join us for an unforgettable journey into the healing traditions of Ecuador's sacred mountains, where we will explore deep spiritual growth through plant medicine, yoga, meditation, reiki healing, and connection with nature. Nestled in the serene beauty of the Southern Andes, this transformative retreat is led by Katie, a plant medicine & ancestral healer apprentice, Tennessee, a master reiki practitioner, psilocybin mushroom ceremony facilitator, yoga teacher, and trauma-informed veteran and Taita German, an indigenous Shuar healer from the jungle of Gualaquiza, who will be leading us in the Ayahuasca ceremonies.

Plant medicine ceremonies include:

  • 2 Ayahuasca Ceremonies: Guided by Taita German, these powerful ceremonies will offer profound healing and insight.
  • 1 San Pedro Ceremony: With Katie, experience the gentle yet expansive energy of San Pedro, known for its heart-opening qualities.
  • 1 Cacao Ceremony: This beautiful medicine will bring you back to the heart & help you connect with the earth.
  • Additionally, enjoy daily meditation & yoga sessions led by Tennessee, designed to ground, strengthen, and open your body and mind. Daily hikes to sacred mountains and visits to rivers will deepen your connection to the natural world and the wisdom of the land.

This retreat offers an unparalleled opportunity to experience ancient healing practices in a breathtaking environment, surrounded by the powerful energies of the Andes. Plant medicines like Ayahuasca, San Pedro, and Cacao are powerful tools for healing and spiritual growth, working holistically to address mind, body, and spirit. Each plant has its own unique properties, but they all facilitate deep transformation by opening pathways of self-awareness, emotional release, and spiritual connection.

Plant Medicine Ceremonies

Grandmother Ayahuasca is the sacred brew from the Amazon. The ceremonies take place at night, and she helps us to let go of negative feelings, energies that we are holding onto, She helps align and heal mind, body & spirit. She can teach us about the universe, ourselves and helps show us where we are living out of alignment. This ceremony lasts around 2-6 hours typically. Many people vomit, have diarrhea, as this is an emotional energetic release. We also might have visions, or receive sudden knowings and understandings.

Grandfather San Pedro is a cactus from the Andes, a healing masculine energy, helping you find alignment and open your heart once more, ready to take flight. We will meet with Grandfather San Pedro next to Granfather Fire in beautiful, unique ceremonies at night and during the day.  This ceremony begins around 8:30am and finishes around 3pm, though we will continue to feel the medicine until the night. Again, we might have a purge or some kind, and recieve visions and feel a connection with Mother Earth.

Grandfather Tobacco is seen as the greatest of all the plants of power. He connects us to Spirit, allowing us to communicate with the spirit world. In ceremonies with Tobacco, he helps us purge negative emotions, cleansing us physically, mentally and spiritually. Ceremonies with Tobacco include drinking tobacco, shingar -- putting tobacco water up the nose, and hape - powder tobacco up the nose, and finishing with smoking.

Mama Cacao is a heart-opening plant medicine, revered for its ability to deepen emotional awareness and spiritual connection. Used in ceremonial settings, cacao enhances clarity, love, and compassion, allowing for a deeper connection to oneself and others. It gently facilitates healing and alignment, fostering inner peace and growth.

We will provide preparation support, and we hold circles during our plant medicine retreats to discuss any questions you may have in advance. After our plant medicine ceremonies, we also have sharing circles, so you can share any pearls from your ceremony experience. Some people have sat in ceremonies previously, whereas, for others, it is their first time meeting with the plant medicines. We include integration support post-retreat as well, offering several Zoom calls to check in and give suggestions for staying on your healing path.

Optional:

Virtual limpia (energetic cleansing) with Katie, or Limpia + Tarot Reading

- We can do a limpia for you via Zoom before the retreat if you wish, or after. We will do them at the retreat, but it can be helpful to start aligning your energy or help with any health issues you might be experiencing even before you arrive. Or have a reading and limpia or clearing and guidance.

Limited spaces available. Secure your spot today and step into a life-changing experience of healing, transformation, and connection.

How to arrive

The easiest way to arrive is to fly to Quito airport and then take another flight with Aeroregional to Loja airport. From there, we can send a taxi to pick you up ($45 total - space for 4 people). We can arrange a taxi as well after the retreat if you like.

We are located in Malacatos, Loja, Ecuador

How to prepare

Before coming, please avoid red meat, alcohol and any drugs for at least 1 week prior. Eat healthy, consume less or no caffeine, spicy foods, and minimal onion and garlic for the week before.

After the retreat, avoid red meat, alcohol and drugs, and eat healthy for 1 week after as well.

More important than food, come with an open heart and mind to whatever you may experience. Be ready to forgive yourself and others.

We recommend you begin journaling a couple weeks or more before the retreat and continue journaling after. Write down your thoughts, experiences, your intention for the retreat. Create time daily to connect with your spirit. Meditate.

Be weary of what you consume on social media, television, etc. Avoid watching disheartening things such as the news, violent of scary movies, etc.

Try to come with peace in your heart, avoid any heated arguments before and especially after the retreat.

About us

Katie facilitates the retreats with Allpa Mama Healing. She apprenticed 5 years with her partner Miguel, who is a traditional shaman, and has begun to hold her own San Pedro ceremonies. Katie will be leading the San Pedro ceremony and she will assist in the other ceremonies. She also studied with a healer from the north in Otavalo, Ecuador, learning more shamanic healing techniques and herbalism.

Tennessee is a master reiki practitioner, sacred medicine ceremony facilitator, yoga teacher, and spiritual guide and mentor. She is also a trauma-informed veteran. She will be leading meditations, yoga, breathwork sessions and reiki sessions while here. We are lucky to have her!

Taita German is an indigenous Shuar taita, or curandero, shaman from Ecuador with over 30 years of experience working with Ayahuasca. He comes from a lineage of shamans from Gualaquiza, taught by his uncle and cousins. He is a powerful, strong and dedicated healer with a good sense of humor.

The Location

Allpa Mama Healing is based in the Southern Andes mountains in Malacatos, Ecuador, what was referred to as the "sacred valley" for its powerful healing energies.

Immerse yourself in nature in our retreat space. It is magical during ceremonies to hear the sounds of all the nature around, under the beautiful milky way.

The accommodation has everything you need to be comfortable, feel at peace, and retreat inwards during your stay.

The temperature is perfect year-round: in the 70s every day!

Rooms are comfortable, with nice beds, wi-fi, and hot water

Pool, jacuzzi and steam room on site

The temperature is in the 70s year round. We might have a big of rain. Bring sweat pants, a sweater for the night, a rain jacket, hiking shoes, shorts and t-shirts, a bathing suit, and bug spray (sometimes people get mosquito or other bug bites).
