About your trip

Embark on a breathtaking journey along the Portuguese Coastal Camino, an inn-to-inn pilgrimage that weaves together natural beauty, cultural heritage, and spiritual reflection. Starting in Porto, Portugal, and following the stunning Atlantic coastline into Galicia, Spain, this pilgrimage offers a unique blend of sea breezes, historic towns, and timeless countryside paths.

Over the course of your journey, you’ll stroll through picturesque fishing villages, medieval towns, vineyards, chestnut groves, and fragrant eucalyptus forests. From the serene beaches of northern Portugal to the rolling hills of Galicia, each step invites you to slow down, breathe deeply, and connect with the landscape and your inner self.

Highlights include crossing the legendary Ponte Sampaio, visiting the majestic Santa Maria de Oia Monastery, and relaxing in the natural hot springs of Caldas de Reis. The pilgrimage culminates in the sacred city of Santiago de Compostela, where you’ll stand before the awe-inspiring cathedral and receive your Compostela, marking the completion of your journey.

More than just a walk, this Camino is an experience of discovery, community, and renewal—where every inn, meal, and mile tells part of a story that pilgrims have shared for centuries.

Testimonials

One of the best things I had done was with the best leadership. Mary not only scheduled everything for us… She and her team were amazing, supporting us during those extraordinary moments. I will always remember her and thank her for being there for us! ~ Luz Torres, Boston MA.

Just completed my third pilgrimage planned in detail by Mary Maddox. Two on the French Camino, one to Medjugorje. Once again, all the lodging was really nice, and transportation of both me and my luggage was smooth and without a glitch. Plus, Mary is a joy to work with. :-). ~ Diane H. Browne, PSYD, Washington DC

Mary helped us plan a perfect trip, detailed for our hopes, preferences, personalities, and budget. Everything was seamless and perfect from initial planning, financial budgeting, and communication before, during, and after the trip. Everything went perfectly, and the accommodations were all different/unique and added immensely to the entire experience. I've traveled with Mary/Prayerful Pilgrim as a member of a group and as an independent traveler and can't speak highly enough about both experiences. The personal availability and knowledge of Mary and her team are excellent and have enabled me to have two incredibly different and meaningful experiences. I will definitely plan to travel with PP again. ~ Dawn M, Mississippi
