Urubamba Market and Pablo Seminario Ceramic Workshop
This morning, we will visit the Urubamba market, a picturesque site where producers and farmers of the Sacred Valley gather every day to sell, buy, or trade their products. Discover and see the differences in the customs of Andean inhabitants and the distinct products they harvest, using ancestral techniques in their tiny farms: large grain white corn, unique in the world; Andean herbs and cereals, much appreciated in the new gourmet gastronomy; poultry and cuy—guinea pigs, and typical staples of the area. We will now head towards the workshop of the renowned ceramic artist Pablo Seminario to learn about some of the techniques and designs used by ancient Peruvian cultures. Pablo Seminario represents a new art expression, providing continuity to these cultural inheritances. He concentrates on making large–format works of art, “great plates” in his own words. At his personal workshop, he has his own space for creating, where the images that emerge are the result of patient work following the tradition of pre–Colombian pottery, an ambitious task that began over 20 years ago and which he continues to develop together with his wife, Marilú.
