Arrive in Budapest

Welcome to Hungary! Upon arrival at the international airport in Budapest, you’ll make your way through customs, collect your luggage, and meet your private transfer. Head to your centrally located hotel and get ready to meet your tour guide for your day’s tour.

Separated by the Danube, the settlements of Pest and Buda form one of the most intriguing cities in Europe: Budapest. Get an introduction to Budapest’s bustling Pest side, where history and modernity harmoniously converge. During this sightseeing tour, we will visit some of the main landmarks of the Pest side, including St. Stephen’s Basilica, Hungarian Parliament, Shoes on the Danube memorial, Chain Bridge, Hungarian Opera House, Market Hall, Heroes’ Square, and Millennial Monument. There will be an opportunity to stop for lunch during the tour.

Later in the day, you’ll visit the Rudas Bath, a truly unique destination in Budapest, melding centuries-old Ottoman elegance with therapeutic mineral waters and modern spa comforts. Whether you’re seeking healing relaxation, architectural beauty, or a social night out under a domed sky, it delivers an unforgettable experience. Established in 1571-1572 under Ottoman rule, the spa remains one of the best-preserved Turkish baths in Central Europe. The heart of Rudas features the main octagonal pool surrounded by four side pools, plus a cold plunge pool. A modern wellness area was opened in 2014. A complete sauna world offers Finnish saunas, an aroma sauna, steam rooms, and a dry salt room. The most iconic feature is the outdoor heated pool, offering sweeping views of the Danube, Elizabeth Bridge, and the Pest skyline, a perfect setting for sunset or nighttime bathing.

Tonight, stroll through Vörösmarty Square Christmas Market. Budapest’s main Christmas Market is located at Vörösmarty Square and spreads onto Fashion Street up to Deák Ferenc Square where you can find additional food and drink stalls and to Városháza Téli Park where you’ll find a Christmas Market Ice rink!

The food stands offer some of the best Christmas Market food in Europe, so bring your appetite. Hungarian food is hearty, so come prepared for a full meal and lots of sour cream (Hungary’s favorite condiment).

Food Highlights:

  • beef goulash served in bread bowls

  • massive sausages

  • langos with toppings of your choice (sour cream and cheese is the traditional Hungarian version)

  • potato pancakes with topping of your choice (think more sour cream!)

  • paprika chicken

  • lamb shanks

  • roasted potatoes

  • Plus, the desserts like the Kürtőskalács (chimney cakes)

Budapest

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel. Today, you will head to the Széchenyi Thermal Spa, one of the biggest natural hot spring spa baths in Europe. The spring waters were discovered in the 1880s, and by 1913, millions were enjoying the therapeutic powers of the baths. Besides the outdoor and indoor geothermal pools, you can get massage treatments, enjoy the saunas and gym, relax by the pools with a beer or glass of wine, or even sample the natural waters that supply the pools from over 1,000 meters below the surface.

This afternoon into the evening, we’ll visit the St. Stephen’s Basilica Advent Market, Budapest’s second most popular market. This small market is quainter and more picturesque than the market in Vörösmarty Square. The St. Stephen’s Basilica Advent Market is one of Budapest’s most cherished holiday destinations, held annually in the stunning square in front of St. Stephen’s Basilica in the city center. The market offers a magical atmosphere enhanced by the beautifully illuminated basilica, sparkling holiday lights, and a grand Christmas tree. Visitors are greeted by a variety of stalls showcasing traditional Hungarian handicrafts, ornaments, ceramics, and unique gifts, making it a perfect spot to find special souvenirs and Christmas presents.

The market is also a paradise for food lovers, with local vendors serving classic treats such as chimney cake (kürtőskalács), roasted chestnuts, sausages, hearty stews, and warming mulled wine. One of the highlights is the captivating 3D light show projected onto the basilica’s façade, complemented by live performances, choirs, and sometimes an ice skating rink, creating a truly festive experience. The family-friendly atmosphere makes it welcoming for visitors of all ages, offering activities for children and plenty of space to enjoy the holiday spirit.

What sets the St. Stephen’s Basilica Advent Market apart is its authenticity and intimate charm, focusing on local culture and traditions rather than commercialism. Its central location makes it easily accessible and an ideal stop while exploring the city. Whether you’re shopping, sampling Hungarian delicacies, or simply soaking in the enchanting sights and sounds, this market is a must-visit for anyone looking to experience the true spirit of Christmas in Budapest.

Later this evening, depart on a dinner cruise on Budapest’s scenic Danube River, which will include a live folklore operetta show. Glide past Budapest’s iconic landmarks while immersing yourself in a romantic and unforgettable atmosphere. Marvel at the capital’s most breathtaking sights, including the Buda Castle, House of Parliament, Fisherman’s Bastion, Chain Bridge, and many other monumental buildings.

Budapest

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel. Today, you will head to Lukács Thermal Bath, an elegant and lesser-known and less crowded gem in Budapest, fusing centuries-old healing tradition with modern wellness therapy. Thermal springs have been used at the site since the 12th century, by the Knights Hospitallers and later the Ottomans, who even used the hot water to power a powder mill. You can still see part of the mill’s structure in the building today! The site was comprehensively rebuilt in the late 19th century, including a hotel and medical hydrotherapy center, and named for Saint Luke (Lukács) in 1893.

Following your visit to the thermal baths, enjoy a Hungarian winetasting at Felix Kitchen & Bar. Felix is more than just a fancy restaurant; it is a full-fledged contemporary art space located by the Danube at the footsteps of Castle Garden Bazaar. It is traditional, yet modern, and the team is passionate about premium gastronomy, bar culture, quality ingredients, and art. We’ll enjoy local Hungarian snacks along with our wine.

This evening, we’ll visit Fisherman’s Bastion Christmas Market. The Fisherman’s Bastion Christmas Market offers a truly unique and enchanting holiday experience in one of Budapest’s most iconic locations. Set atop Castle Hill, the market is nestled beside the fairy-tale turrets and terraces of the Fisherman’s Bastion, providing breathtaking panoramic views of the city and the Danube River, especially at sunset or under twinkling holiday lights. This magical setting alone makes the market stand out from others in Budapest.

The market itself is smaller and more intimate than some of the city’s larger Advent fairs, which means fewer crowds and a more relaxed, cozy atmosphere. Visitors can browse stalls featuring high-quality, handcrafted gifts, traditional Hungarian Christmas decorations, and delicious seasonal treats like chimney cake, roasted meats, and mulled wine. The combination of local artisan products and festive food makes it a wonderful place to pick up unique souvenirs or enjoy authentic flavors.

What truly sets the Fisherman’s Bastion Christmas Market apart is the blend of history, architecture, and holiday spirit. The surrounding medieval walls, beautiful Matthias Church, and sweeping city views create a storybook backdrop for your holiday memories. With live music, festive decorations, and a peaceful ambiance, this market is memorable Christmas outing in Budapest.

Prague City Tour and Slivovitz Tasting

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel and meet your guide for a full day of sightseeing in Prague. You’ll begin with a ride in an old-time car to the Strahov Monastery and Library, an architectural gem. Enjoy a scenic walk to Prague Castle, where you’ll also visit the magnificent St. Vitus Cathedral.

You’ll end your day at a Slivovitz tasting venue, where you’ll learn about the history, craftsmanship, and cultural significance of slivovitz, a plum brandy that is a traditional Czech spirit. Afterward, enjoy a guiding tasting of three different samples, each with its unique flavor profile, accompanied by typical Czech tapas that perfectly complement the tasting experience.

This evening, visit Prague's Old Town Square Christmas Market, a magical experience that captures the charm and tradition of the holiday season. Set in the heart of the city, the market is surrounded by stunning Gothic and Baroque architecture, including the iconic Týn Church and the Old Town Hall with its famous Astronomical Clock. The square is beautifully decorated with twinkling lights, a towering Christmas tree, and festive stalls, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

At the market, you’ll find a variety of wooden huts selling traditional Czech crafts, handmade ornaments, and unique gifts. The aroma of mulled wine, roasted chestnuts, and sweet pastries like trdelník fills the air, tempting you to sample local treats. Live performances, carolers, and nativity scenes add to the festive spirit, making it a lively spot for families, couples, and solo travelers alike. DOX Centre and Beer Spa

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel, and head to the DOX Centre for Contemporary Art, whose exhibits aim to inspire reflection on social topics and issues. Experience everything from design to sculpture to performance to film in this eclectic collection. You never know what you’ll stumble upon.

Then, for something truly unique, head to the Old Town to visit a Beer Spa. In a country with such a rich spa tradition and celebrated brewing techniques, it is only natural that the two should meet in this experience. Relax in a warm whirlpool bath of hot water enriched with hops, malt, and living cultures of brewery yeast that have a rejuvenating effect on skin and more. And of course, enjoy a cool local lager while you relax. After your beer bath, enjoy the relaxation area’s oat bed to sweat out any toxins.

Tonight, visit Wenceslas Square (Václavské náměstí): A short walk from Old Town Square, this market has a more modern and vibrant feel, complete with an ice rink, lively music, and many shops.

What sets Wenceslas Square apart from other markets is its dynamic city atmosphere. While Old Town Square feels quaint and historic, Wenceslas Square is bustling and modern, lined with shops, hotels, and restaurants. The market itself features rows of festively decorated stalls selling traditional Czech crafts, ornaments, and plenty of delicious seasonal foods—like sausages, pastries, and mulled wine. You’ll also find local specialties unique to Prague, and it’s a great place to people watch or catch live performances amid the city lights.

Glass Painting Workshop and Prague Underground

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel before we depart for today’s adventures. You’ll enjoy a glass painting workshop, where you can paint your own glass artifact – a unique keepsake to take home. Enjoy traditional Czech cake as part of your experience.

In the evening, enjoy a special tour of Prague underground. Legend has it that a labyrinth of underground passages runs beneath Prague. You’ll have a chance to see for yourself as you explore the medieval underground of the Old Town Hall and hidden Romanesque houses. Discover dark history and unseen secrets that most visitors and locals overlook.

You’ll also visit the UNESCO-protected Speculum Alchemaie, a historical alchemist’s workshop that was rediscovered during recent renovations.

Later, visit smaller and less well-known markets such as:

  • Náměstí Míru: Located in the Vinohrady neighborhood, this market is considered less touristy, often featuring lower prices and a strong local following.

  • Prague Castle Market: Set in the courtyard between St. George's Basilica and St. Vitus Cathedral, this market offers a magical backdrop and a good opportunity to enjoy local produce and carol singing.

  • Republic Square (Náměstí Republiky): This is another convenient and popular market located near the city center.

  • Havel's Market (Havelské tržiště): A long-standing traditional market that also hosts Christmas stalls.

Cheers to a wonderful holiday adventure!
